Video capture software that currently works with CF(?)

I normally use Dxtory to record gameplay but that currently freezes my client on loading screens, and NVIDIA's Shadowplay just didn't record for some reason I haven't determined yet.

What software are you currently using to record gameplay?

Shadowplay needs to record desktop... Checkbox

Obs will work or bandi cam

Its windowed full screen not true full screen

I also noticed some disconects when streaming at idd resolutions (maybe just bad timing)

But i have a 2560x1440p base resolution... 1280x720 (1/4) works fine but when i tried at 1600x900 i got crashes

Also used fraps because I am old school but it worked as well.

I still say "fraps or didn't happen." out of habit.  Damn new age hippies.

Yeah, fraps works. I've used it a few times in CF. Just make sure you compress the video afterward. I use VirtualDub for the compression.

Shadowplay needs to record desktop... Checkbox

That is indeed what it needed, thank ye.

13 min file recorded with Shadowplay = 4.6 GB

8 min file recorded with Fraps = 21 GB

It's amazing how long Fraps has been around and they're still the worst, lol.

I can't get Shadowplay to work with Crowfall either, or that'd be my preference. I currently use OBS to both stream and record Crowfall (2 open instances, one for high quality recording, one for poorer quality streaming to minimise buffering).

Once you compress that 8 min file, it will be under 1 GB.

I did a video the other day with Fraps. It's 6:47 long and about 9 GB. After compressing, it's 519 MB.

I'm sure there are plenty of better recorders out there, but Fraps is good enough for what I need.

Heh, you sound like my IRL friend. He gave me the spiel about compression too and my reply was, "the hell do I need uncompressed video for?" I'm making YouTube fodder here, not a Netflix documentary.  :P

Did you tick "Allow desktop capture" in the settings?
