Tell us your planned starting profession and why!

Recommended Posts

With almost NO information on crafting so far and none coming in the near future, let's do what we do best and speculate!

Which crafting profession strikes your fancy? Is is something you've played in a previous MMO? What made you choose it? What are your hopes and dreams for it?

Leave a response.

I want to dabble in Necromancy.  Not so much for the money making aspect, but because I think it will be fun.  I also think that I will find runecrafting interesting.

Those 2 crafts have more to do with character depth, than actual itemization.

I've not decided but my starting profession will likely be one of these:

  • Myrimdon- Cause Minotaurs
  • Knight- Easy to play
  • Assassin- Gliding Stealthing Fairy
  • Duelist- Guinea Pig Fencer
  • Stalker- Murdeer, Nuff said.

I'm going with Mazon, runecrafting is, for now, my favorit, followed by corpse-stitching ;)

But I fear that, eventually, I'll have to buy multiple accounts - as I know myself, I wont be satisfied with only one or two crafting professions xD

This actually seems likely for me as well. I have been having a good deal of trouble with making this decision so here are my three top picks.

Transportation - Combining woodworking and animal husbandry to build carts and train the critters to pull them.

Architect - Combining stone mason and whatever else is required to make forts, keeps, castle, etc all by my lonesome.

Enchant smith - Blacksmith with enough focus in things that make thrall binding more effective.

Those are what I am leaning two right now. I may have to pick up a second account to manage a second one of these skill groups.

oh, groupings o_o didn't think about that, but yeah! I'd name it Bondsmith, though - Smith+Thralls :)

I'd like to maddle with thralls...mh.....perhaps woodworking + thralls....I'll see :D

Not technically under the "crafting" area of general skills:

but intrigued about how the survival aspects of exploration's "Farming" will work

"growing crops to sustain you and others during the harsh winter."

here are all the current in game descriptions for non fighting GENERAL skills in case people need reminding of the choices :)

Siege Warfare

Skills that teach you how to use Siege Weaponry and the art of destroying structures

Stealth

Skills that teach you how to hide in the shadows

Exploration Basics

Skills that enable the scouting of the world

Animal Husbandry

Skills that teach the befriending of animals and turning them into pets, mounts and caravan animals.

Tracking

Skills that increase your knowledge on detecting and finding those who hide in the shadows.

Harvesting

Skills that teach how to harvest resources in the world.

Vessels

Skills that allow you to better control Vessels

Farming

Skills that teach growing crops to sustain you and others during the harsh winter.

Crafting Basics

Skills that grant the Basic crafting recipes, as well as the core crafting statistics

Blacksmithing

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of tools and metal components.

Jewelcrafting

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of precious gems.

(thrall i assume: "bind-spirits – fallen warriors who can be inscribed into the runes to make your weapons and armor more powerful.")

Tailoring

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of cloth armors and cloth components

(not sure what this one will have....enchantments?)

Stonemasonry

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of walls and stone components

Necromancy

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of corpses

Runemaking

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of discipline runestones

Woodworking

Skills that teach and enhance the crafting of bows and wood components

I do like that name. bondsmith sounds so much better than what I called it, and it would work with many of the combinations that use thralls.

We could open another thread to name possible combinations - don't think Tinnis will appreciate it if we talk about that here :P

Thanks Tinnis for the list - makes it easier. Guess I'll take Animal Husbandry, Farming and Harvesting for one Acc, and Jewelcrafting, Woodworking and Runemaking for the other one. And yes....I'm going to be busy T_T

Personally I never crafted much, I just enjoy PvP too much. As a general profession I would say the one of a Bounty Hunter with the ocasional escort quest.

If you are only looking for crafting I tend to the production of firearms, because I like them. If not firearms I will look Jewelry. Jewelry is for the most part interesting, but to this point crafting could also just be a UI game which I am quite skeptic about.

Added: But aside from acual gameplay mechanics I will look into archeology! Learn the language, discorver the stories of the doomed worlds, make screenshots and share it around the world to further expand our knowledge of this world.

Also a nice idea would be a tavern to chat with people.

oh and remember there will be more crafting options available as discipline runestones

only ALCHEMY for potion making mentioned so far...

Alchemist

“Wine from water, lead from gold”
Grants potion recipes
Grants Alchemy skill
Grants Alchemy Bag - increased inventory space that can only contain potion bottles; potions placed in bag have decreased chance of exploding on impact

lots of choice :)

i'm not sure. depends on how its done...

but i tend to stonemasonry or blacksmith.

and obviously harvesting.

i guess, i will be starting with harvesting for some days or weeks, then switch to one of the crafts and switch back between those until harvesting is high enough to supply my crafting. when i feel, i can supply myself good enough to not be completely dependend on others for my main craft, i will go full in blacksmith or stonemasonry.

The only profession I'm actually looking forward to dabbling in is Alchemy, and we don't know how hard it is to get that discipline.

i can't think of alchemy discipline being hard to get. its a really common thing people will want to have easily accessible.

if you see, that if you don't have alchemy, potions tend to explode in your bag... (maybe, on explosion, they will even do aoe damage or something like that)

in pvp games, people want to use potions. if you need to be alchemist to use potions savely, lots of people will use this discipline.

it would be hard, if its hard to get then.

if i understand things right, the discipline rune gets lost, if your vessel gets destroyed. therefore, there will even be a lager need for easy supply of alchemy runestones.

wow, exploding postions? gonna love that stuff.

Err....well. I really don't think that they're going to make everyone learn their chemestry, solely so you're able to transport it. But if they do (do you have a source?), than well, yes, the discipline should be easy to come by.

its been quoted 5 or 6 posts ago. dont know the source, sry, but i remember having read the same somewhere else in the forums.

if the bag decreases the chance of potions to explode, potions have a chance to explode on impact :P

would be funny if one knew the disciplines of the enemies. like if you are in a battle and tell your mates to aim at the alchimists and then a swarm of arrows flies to them and they explode taking al allies with them as they stored a big stack of potions and those exploded :P
