Duelist powers and UI - Official discussion thread

As a practitioner of historical swordplay, I love the names of the Inconceivable buffs. They're all from Princess Bride, but Princess Bride got it right.

 

Duelist looks like a huge amount of fun, and I'll definitely be giving the archetype a try.

 

Does taking damage bring the duelist out of stealth?  Will an AE (or melee swing for that matter since it also hits an area) hit the stealthed (burrowed) duelist or is he considered below ground and not hittable?

He is clearly overpowered, 50% chance to gain a damage bonus + stealth + smaller hit box + impale

Ambush - get 3 pips and daze them

Pistol shot the gazed guy - get two more pips

then Pepperbox to stun

Get more pips with basic attacks 

then either activate the damage buff or impale

then finish off.

 

 

I think ACE should have added reveal mechanics to the ranger to counter these little beasts.

Omg, can't believe I'm saying this but this little rodent sounds like lots of fun.  :blink:

 

I hope Burrow can be revealed by anti-stealth powers? And a short underground teleport that goes under walls and other objects. Oh boy. I'm a sucker for combo point systems, so yeah .... who knows. I will probably hate myself playing this rodent.  :o

This is one of the first archetypes where I have seen where all of the skills will be useful.  I love that he is primarily a short ranged archetype, but as players are trying to get away he has 30M long pistol tools to work with.

 

I'm also glad they are forcing a tray swap when the duelist goes into burrow mode; going into burrow mode and then using their "C" skill would have been to OP on initial group interactions.

I love what you guys are doing with Specialists! I can't wait to try him out! I'm disappinted that the Duelist's Tunnel does not allow allies to burrow with them, though I'm not gonna cry over it, since that could have just made walls completely irrelevent. I'll just mimic mrmoneda: Gimme!

I agree with this. However changes aren't that likely to come soon -_-. We called how op the myrmidon abilities c and 6 were long before it was released and it still is. I mean they still haven't even gotten around to fixing the druid so good luck getting them to do anything about this,

 

Ironically the one thing that I think will reel in that kind of power is how slow this game is. Normally a class that has resource generation like that ends up bursting for a ton if the cooldowns aren't enormous. Animation locking is going to smother this class thankfully with this archetype. My recommendation to this game has not changed since a year ago. Speed up the combat just a bit, but make sure all the classes are brought into line first >.>.

 

With the upcoming campaign worlds I really hope that most of the irritating bugs in hunger dome are fixed by then.

The Champion peaked in high school (aka too soon)

 

I'd love to see the redirect pain ability replace the champions RMB.  You could have its duration controlled by stamina.

 

Whats with the bleeds?  Knight, Champ, Ranger, Mino, Pig.  When the stalker gets the ability to track a bleeding target everyone is going to show up on the map.

the power names are fabulous!

 

 

any word on whether we expect to get the duelist before or after mini campaign testing?

 

or when either might be generally......

 

 

will the ranger get any 'bleed over' effect and actually gain their specalisation HIDE as a result of the related burrow tech coming in......?
