Most Important Tip - Skills - New Player

Recommended Posts

The most important tip to remember when entering the world for the very first time - is the training of your skills.

These skills are based on a points system and each of these points are earned at increased time intervals.

The skills training can be split into two distinctive groups:
1. Universal Training - Only one slot available to train at a time
2. Archetype Training - Three slots available to train at a time

Universal Training covers your basic combat, crafting and exploration, while Archetype Training covers the type of role you will want to play during combat (Tank, DPS, Support and Specialist).

Once you have chosen your skills to train for each slot, you can continue on with your journey, as these skills will continue on to be trained even if you are not online playing.

You start a thread on early skills training, say it's "the most important", and leave out the fact that the first three universal skills you should always train is the survival harvesting ones so you don't have to spend 80% of your time just trying to eat?

Tsk Tsk Tsk.

Another useful thing to note is that skill training will persist not only when you are offline, but also when the servers are offline. Even during the week while the dev team is working and the test servers are down, your skills will continue to advance.

The timelines as they currently stand are 3 days for each tier of a given skill. So a tier 1 skill takes 3 days to finish, a tier 2 skill takes 6, etc etc. Individual points take longer the closer you are to finishing, as well. That is to say that going from 1 to 90 on a tier 1 skill will take 2 days, while 90 to 100 will take 1 day. That timeline isn't precise - I keep forgetting to actually set a timer.

All that is to say... Don't only check your skills on the weekends. Check them every 2-3 days for maximum benefit.

  • 3 months later...

If this is how it works at Release, could a player log on Day 1, set his skills, log off for a month, and come back the most powerful player in those skills since he/she hasn't diversified at all?

First of all he would have to log in to add subsequent skills now and then, since the t1 skills will max. take a few days to fully train.

Secondly yes statistically he would be on par with anyone else that been training non-stop since day one whether they be playing or not, but he would not have the practical knowledge the playing ppl would have gained on how the game systems and such works, so in that regard he likely would be behind
