Narsille's Hardware Store, open for business!

As of next test, my Runecrafting will finally be in decent shape, by which I mean:

My assembly quality skills will be near max.

I'll have 15+ pips to spend on experimentation.

I am planning on opening a hardware store such that players who don't have access to a high quality runecrafter in their own guild have the opportunity to get some decent tools.

There are two different options available for purchasing stuff.

1.  Folks can give me two complete set of raw materials.  I'll craft items out of both of them and give you the better of the two.  [Please note, paper can screw up the quality of your final item.  If you want to guarantee a purple item, you're going to want to be using purple paper]

2.  I will also have stock items available for sale.  I will manufacture these out of high quality raw materials (blues and purples) and use "appropriate" choices of metals and the like  I typically use either (gold+silver) or (copper + tin) for the sigil.  The price of these items is based on the quality of the final drop.

Cool to see some shops opening up.

For option #2 - what will you use as currency? I know eventually the "dust" will be used as currency (I believe it will power thralls/factories) but for now the dust is useless so I'm curious what you're going to use. Barter system?

Its great to see things like economy and shops go beyond barriers.

Hopefully factories will make this easier! (Not to mention character to character trading!)

For option 1, I am keeping the lesser of the two resulting items as my "fee"

For option 2, barter.

The amount that you will need to pay will be a function of my crafting success.

For example, if you insist on purchasing an "amazing success" final assembly and I only get an amazing success one out of every three times, you're going to need to pay more than you'll pay for a "good success".

The emergence of commerce at even this early stage is fantastic, and one of the things about Crowfall that helps form my basis for hope it will be a truly great game, is that it has set up the demand aspect of a system as well as the tools for supply, with things like this being the result. This dynamic is something I expect we will see through all areas of gameplay, in areas such as mapmaking, escort and bounty services, animal husbandry, you name it. Cannot wait to see more tools come online for the creative and enterprising individuals out there!

So I pressed Blixtev a bit .... supposedly Legendary materials used in the crafting of Runetools could end up giving a max +120 harvesting stat .... I look forward to gathering my epic materials for you to craft a few picks/hammers for me

Don't forget, the one EK that no one will judge you for looting your guilds treasury is Anhrez's Doober Shack. Where you can take those long con gains and 'simplify' them to more easily fit in your inventory. While you are unloading your hard earned winnings, swing by the Bazaar and pick up something to celebrate your genius.

Few other quick points:

For folks who want to chose option #1, I do plan on running a live Twitch Stream so people will be able to validate that I am crafting items from your raw materials and make sure that I give you the "superior" item.

For folks who want to go with option #2, my price schedule will ultimately be a function of my crafting success rate.

The more narrow the spread in the quality of the items that I produce, the more narrow the spread in the cost of the final pieces.

Not sure yet whether or not I will prefer to do my sales in the real world or wimp out and set up shop in Sanctuary.

I was thinking about making and selling tools later too. For option 2, i was planning on figuring out the ranges for each successful type. Though i think i was mainly going to use blue and greens with a rare purple. This way people may keep lower ores to trade to us crafters so we can make more common pickaxes. I'll post my spreadsheet with the stats i get for each Success per color type.

Normal Success     = 6 same color resources
Moderate Success = 8 same color resources

Good Success       = 10 same color resources

Great Success       = 12 same color resources

Amazing Success   = 15 same color resources

I figure with our higher crafting skill, we should get more resources than we put in. Also i figured i could implement a resource exchange on the pricing. 2x the resource if using lower quality, or 1/2 if using a higher one. Eg. Selling an Amazing Blue Pickax for 30green, 15 blue or 8 Purple or 4 orange. (I don't think I'd accept white for anything but normal pickaxes)

I like your thoughts on the doubles resource for a custom Pickax. That insures that even if you fail the cost is only on you.
