Bestiary: Gryphon - Official Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Nice bestiary update!

Since this is a flying mob will it have a flight dynamic built into it?  Will it be able to fly/glide out of the range of melee forcing ranged to only target it?  If so that could lead to some interesting dynamics of dive effects,  grabbing players and dropping them to take fall damage, etc.  This could also allow Mryms net to ground the flying Gryphon to allow melee to damage it.

Would love to see these in game soon!

When can we expect to see the Gryphon in game?

Will the Gryphon skin for leather? It is not currently among the leather types in game.

Will we have "nest" looking spawns in the mountain parcels for these?

Will players be able to tame Gryphons?

We have bear, Hellcat, Elk, Boar and Auroch .... these 5 (with the base 3 slot combine) which as given us a heady mix of possible outcomes what could Gryphon add?

Don't forget, the one EK that no one will judge you for looting your guilds treasury is Anhrez's Doober Shack. Where you can take those long con gains and 'simplify' them to more easily fit in your inventory. While you are unloading your hard earned winnings, swing by the Bazaar and pick up something to celebrate your genius.

Gryphons are part lion right? They probably drop high quality cat leather

oh boy that could be a fun thought ... I like where you head is at? Could other 'monsters' of note have some sub tie to existing leather types but just start on a higher Plentiful Harvest table format??

Imagine Feathered Leather, which increases your Dodge regen - there IS a stat for that already...

@Tinnis had an interesting thought ... could these be the 'Motherlode' equivalents for Leatherworkers/Skinners? Anyone can kill them but would their resource loot tables be limited unless your skinning training had the same training requirements seen within Quarrying (minerals) Mining (gems) ?

I suppose it's possible. Wood of course has something similar already as well, would make sense to do the same for Hide. Not sure what that component would be though, since Blood already exists, and Sinew is a crafting product, not a harvesting one.

good point ... Jewelcrafting has the gems, Alchemy has minerals to refine for Necromancy but what is Alchemy's rare components? Minerals? seems like that would be out of character but I guess. I could see a pristine fang for JC or Alchemy? Maybe part of the Unobtanium?

Vessels require sub trained gatherer, Jewel crafting requires sub trained gatherer. Woodcrafting (siege) and RuneCrafting (Disciplines) require a sub trained gatherer for a sub section of their recipes Feels like some of the other Profs could use some extra complexity?

It's doubtful they will have flying combat. This is primarily a pvp game so I would expect creatures to be rudimentary until sometime after the base game is launched (as in after they have completed the primary portion of their game). It would be fun if Witcheresq combat was in the game and fun to watch other people fight it out then steal their loot but I doubt it will be in the game.

When will we see expanded beastary in game and hear about their gameplay and system mechanics?

just saying: this is two years old ;p

Man, where was this video when people in the Discord were giving me poorly made socks for suggesting that gryphons had ever been announced?

Don't answer that: obviously, it was on YouTube, like it has been for two years. Rabble rabble rabble.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Pre-alpha <--this is where we are. If your complaint is that the game don't not works good, come back later.
