I Just Want Shadowbane 2 Lol

Recommended Posts

No hugs until your CF recon mission is complete Mal!

I am officially offended a recon mission has ensued and none of you consulted me!

Probably get more accurate data from Mal, but that is irrelevant. What you really want is something allowing you to continue your wild speculation, and that's exactly the kind of data I'd make up!

loooooool he mad.  I thought you would have grown out of this sort of behavior by now.  I guess above average tactical intelligence doesn't in any way imply anything else.

Why are you here if this game blows so much, brah?  Like, for realsies.  It will be ok; it's just a video game.  They're supposed to make you happy. :(

Edit:  It's also ironic how you were rage-spouting about how Hyshen never engaged in alliances or diplomacy, when, just one specifically pertinent example is when we allied with you (FTP) and part-way through, you abondonded us to go play World of Warcraft in the middle of the bane-war we allied for...

No more Hyshen hugs for you, bro.   I'm sure you played to crush the poorly made socks out of those raid bosses and 3 v 3 arenas though...  Sorry CF is too carebear for you and yours.  /sniff

You need to read the fable of the scorpion and the frog.

I guess there is some confusion from the two different main camps here.  Group A says they haven't seen Dev post's that directly state thing's they are opposed to and are more hopeful that the things they want are implemented.  Group B ,which I am in, assumes the worst because of what they aren't saying.  They are specifically leaving out stuff and that's what has me concerned, it's like they are constantly giving me forum blue balls.

1.  I really, really don't care the "little to no healing", there is a definite skill set to support characters and I for one think it's crucial.  I'm kind of bound to the idea of healers but that's from tabletop RPG's.

2.  That whole lobby EK thing kill's my potential murder boner.

3.  The Speculation Game would have worked for a few weeks but this 60 days hogwash is starting to make me rethink playing.

I agree with #1, for the exact reason you gave.

I'm patient by nature, so #3 doesn't bother me so much. I can understand why it would be irritating to those of a less patient nature, however.

Now, with #2 - we've been discussing this on the old OCC forums, and a number of folks worry over the EK stuff as well. As for me, it doesn't bother me in the least. Here's why:

I think the EK area is primarily for downtime activities for folks like us. I think it'll be a world where you can bring stuff in, but like a roach motel, nothing leaves. So, if you want to play a couple of arena duels, or craft, or fake sitting in a virtual bar and getting virtual drunk while "listening" to someone else's avatar type karaoke, you are free to do so.

*However*, and this is key, if nothing leaves that world, then to GET the stuff to bring into EK, you need to go elsewhere, and thereby expose yourself to conflict. It would not surprise me in the least to see the loot tables for a softer server be significantly lesser than that of a more hard core server. If you look at the screenshots of the worlds, the closer you get to the left, EK worlds, the less loot you can take with you.

I.E. - You can take your stuff and craft in EK if you want to, but if you do it from the green lands at a 20% export rate, you'll get 5 times less attempts than if you exposed yourself to getting killed in the world where you looted it.

The other key thing y'all are overlooking? If the sheep want to sing songs and hold hands while gazing upon their shinies in the EK, who cares? Their subscriptions are paying the developers to keep the lights on for the game we want to play. As long as we have our house burning, loot your foes as you stand over their corpses world, and that game remains fun, I couldn't care less what the rest of the folks are doing off in EK or the green lands or whatever. Just keep paying your subscription fees and keep my game running.

Locked for review until Xanther video appears.

You are so incredibly helpful, CYT. I don't know how I ever managed to do anything before we met. I was just bumbling my way through life, all lost-like. Thank you. My blessing cup runneth over.

Beating people with a dead squirrel or something. will make each campaign hilarious at the start

Make sure you record it for the forums, that way when that person makes a stupid post you always got a trump card: "Bro you got killed by a dead squirrel you really shouldn't be telling people how to play the game."

CYT is harsh, but CYT is fair.

I don't want to live in this reality anymore.

W/HoA were held up as like these mystical forces of highly skilled players with legendary theorycrafters chained to a desk in some deep dungeon holding all the arcane secrets we could use to win if only we knew them.

I think Crowfall actually comes closer to what Shadowbane was supposed to be in a way which Shadowbane itself was ultimately unable to live up to. The political aspect of Shadowbane died off after the first couple of years, never to return. The game would be populated thereafter by the RPK guilds who were after "good fights" more than they were "world domination" or "empire building". And so each guild spread out its assets as distantly as possible to gain quick, easy access to as many areas (and mines) as possible. We'd fight the same people over and over again until it got boring and we left to play other games. A new server or some other development would draw us back with the promise of more action, and we'd repeat the process. We did this over and over with the same 500-1000 people for years until the game finally died. I don't even want to touch goofybane, that's a whole other story.

Crowfall avoids the sort of certain stagnation which plagued SB by giving us an end. An end in the sense that the world will end, but also an end goal to desire and work towards. Someone will win, and winning will be worth it (we don't know exactly how, but let's accept the premise for now). This feature drives people to work together, and work together to work against others. Someone has to win, but who will that be, and how will it be determined? We, the players, determine who wins and how. Wars on the GvG worlds won't be trading a few banes, but never really pursuing a complete victory for fear of losing a good competitor. Now there's an incentive to pursue a decisive conclusion to each war.

This game will be superior to Shadowbane in almost every way. What are you afraid of? The Eternal Kingdoms? That's like being concerned because you can't siege a guild's website! We're invading their mIRC chat room! Bring the trebuchets! Delete all their posts! Burn their video archive! We don't know how the EKs will work, exactly, but even if they're part trophy room, part carebear RP playground, this really doesn't impact gameplay for the GvG worlds at all. Cities will need to be built in the dying worlds, resources will need to be acquired in the dying worlds, equipment will need to be crafted in the dying worlds, cities will be burnt to the ground in the dying worlds. There's a place for things of consequence to happen, and the fact that there's also a place without consequence does not detract from the meaning and impact of the former. So what if someone hides in the EKs and talks ****? All you need do is invite them to the dying worlds. If they refuse, then you need not worry- they are all talk. It's been suggested that in order even have an EK, you'll need to first "win" in the dying worlds. So the badassery of your guild website/trophy room is directly proportional to how many gigantic server wars you won? Sounds awesome.

This fancy elf lad be speakin' the truth mateys. Lookin' forward ta' pillagin' yet again! Har har har!
