Gauging Interest For Guild For "Older" Gamers: 30+? 35+?

Recommended Posts

Tumnus, I may be interested.  I've had an eye on this game only a few months, but SWG was my mmo cherry back in the day and god this game brings the memories.  I'm mid thirties, and don't have an interest in PVP per se but I've always been a big crafter, and this is the only game since SWG that might satisfy that itch.

How do you feel about more casual players that just come on and craft and explore?

Hi Tunmus, as expressed in your intro thread you and I share a similar view so I am all for co-operation.

I have a Medium Fort available once we launch and happily offer its services to anything we colaboratively setup!

A little background on myself: Currently running a Destiny guild consisting of gamer dads, no matter age.

We have a core group of about 45 active players and up to 100 at any given time with ebb and flow.

The group has been running since Destiny 1 beta and still going strong.

I would be very happy to see similar numbers in Crowfall.

The best guilds -for me- have enough members to compete on the larger goals, but remains small enough so people know eachother and can foster a good friendship and camaraderie. Especially in PvP oriented games.

I’ll gladly interlock our gauntlets!

The only thing is that I just noticed you are in central US where I am West EU based. I am not sure how Crowfall will handle regions / servers?

Absolutely, this is my aim as well.  As long as we can survive and carve our own niche, then your description fits perfectly with what I'd like to do.

@Xilanxiv - I'm all for casual players and those looking to explore.  I believe there's a place for everyone in a guild - it's not like you're sucking resources.  And, considering the importance of crafters and crafting in this game, every crafter is important.

@warwoif - Sounds great.  As things progress, we'll continue to post in this thread.

@Svor - I'm going to expect extra wisdom from the 50+ crowd :)

@Woobies - If there isn't beer, are we really doing anything?

To all who read this:  I want to continue to drum up interest in this concept, though I'm open to modifying criteria. I'm excited simply by the number of responses this thread has received.  If you have any further ideas, or want to reach out, reply here or PM me.  I've not been in the game much this week, but I'm encouraged by what recent changes we've been seeing.

I could be interested in this, freshly turn 30 in January and done with guild drama that often comes with the younger generations, for this reason I have been playing solo for 5+ years so it would be good to make some new friends!

Great!  I know drama can exist at every level, but I'd like to think we can avoid as much as possible in this particular setting.  I want us all to have fun - that's the point, right?  We'll have to be careful, as a group, to keep drama to a minimum.

I've done a lot of solo playing myself in the last few years, but I'm excited to have a game where teamwork is required to get the most of it.

I'm also excited to have @Yskonyn on board (if he chooses to stay around) as a leader, since he has more recent guild leadership than I do (and in a PvP setting).

@Geko while younger communities might have drama more frequently my experience is that its definately not tied to age.

In my time as guildleader I have had to extinguish several ‘fires’ that were started by mature people if you strictly look at age.

It is much more about mentality.

@Tumnus definately interested. I’ll send you a PM with my email address.

@Yskonyn It's a shame, I guess just in my mind I just don't have the energy to entertain that kind of mentality so I tend to just ignore it :)

To be back on subject, @Tumnus I have run guilds in the past and successfully, but if I am honest I prefer to be an officer, I've got plenty of experience as one and I am happy to support team leads and lead squads as I have in many other games and I do well at it also.

Saying that I am just as happy to regular member, whatever works for everyone else really :)

Register me interested anyway, I am a little late to the show for Crowfall but I am now all signed up with both live and test environments install.

I'm interested in this too.  I wanted to craft and try not to get ganked too often.  Unfortunately, I have two kids in select sports, so my participation will be spotty.  I'm super excited about how this game looks though.

Hi, send me an invite too.  39, was a hardcore MMO player (Ultima Online, Everquest, some later ones not as hardcore like GW2, etC) when I was young and had more time to play, but I'm grown up now.  I own a business that pretty much runs itself now, so I have some free time to get back into MMO's while I work on my next company.

Bit of a Necro here.  Did this guild ever get off the ground?  I kind of like what I hear.  I don't know anything about the game and not sure if it will stick with me so I would like to keep it in mind when the game gets a bit closer to launch and I decide I can offer a guild something.  Plus I live in Omaha too.
