Keybinding Update - Official Discussion Thread

I hope the whole system is replaced.

Regarding middle mouse button.

Many of us use middle mouse for push to talk/voice coms

In the current setup middle mouse is mapped to alt and It doesn’t appear to be able to be remapped.

"As mentioned, like any game, there will be a few keys that are off limits. These include Esc, Enter, and the Windows key"

Modifier keys! Oh, god I never thought I'd get so excited about being able to use my shift key more freely.

This feels like it's going to be a huge QOL improvement. yaaaaaaay. :3

This is such must have feature. Glad it is finally coming online.

Are those the ONLY keys off limit? Can I use my scroll wheel to trigger abilities or open my character sheet?

Can we combine alt + shift + ctrl with another key?

Why are Esc, Enter and Windows all blocked? Is there some technical conflict going on? Can we turn off the Window key with an in-game option?

Very good to hear!

Also I assume the quote below means that we click and release L+RMB to toggle on walk forward, like a true toggle. As opposed to clicking and holding to "steer" your character as it is in WoW.

Quote

As a toggle, the right mouse button and left mouse button clicked together will move you forward.

I'm pretty sure you have to hold them down which is slightly less terrible then what we have now; but still terrible. Numlock toggle or bust!

Using the left and right mouse button doesn't work for everyone.... I still don't understand why an autorun feature can't be put in.

Also not everyone uses a standard mouse. I don't have a middle button. I'm guessing you can rebind Alt mode

.i hope there's an option to change the zoom for the map

Question, a lot of keys have tooltips that show the letter of the key to be used. For example "F" now when I rebind this to another key will it still say "F" or will the tooltip be appropriately updated?

I know i'm a minority but i'm left handed and don't use WSAD and use the enter key as one of my keybinds, so this kinda sucks. Any reason why you have decided to hard code keys? Honest question since i've seen a few other AAA devs do this and this has never been the case for the last 25+ years in gaming. Hard Coding keys seems to be a newer thing and I honestly would love to know the technical reason for it.

I'll just have to use a third party program like autohot key, its just annoying that i have to do that for such a basic function.
