Anyone Go 4K?

Decent 4k monitors are getting cheaper.  You can find nice ones for under $600 now.  I was about to pull the trigger, but I hesitated because I figure driving all those pixels would really kill the FPS in most games, and I hate running at less than native res.

Anyone running a 4k monitor and gaming on it at full native resolution?

While I haven't used 4k monitors myself, there is no problem With running 1080p on a 4k monitor, it will look exactly like 1080p native on the same size monitor.

So if there are any games that are too demanding on Your system for 4k, you just turn it to 1080p instead.

4k (3840x2160) is great for anything but gaming. You'd be lucky to maintain 30 fps in pretty much any current game right now. Give it 1-2 years for graphics cards to be able to handle it... 2x SLI will keep you in the 40-70fps range, which, I guess is OK. I prefer 80-100 minimum for my 1080p 120hz gaming monitor.

Just take a look at the benchmarks for a single Nvidia GTX 980:

Techpowerup.com is my favorite site for FPS comparison.

Heya mate,

i was not so much into 4K before but then, as you stated, i found an nice offer for an 28" 4K Screen and i bought it. And what should i say......

I had a BLAST!!!

Playing my favorite Games in 4K is just AWESOME. Games like TESO, WoT, Skyforge (Russian Beta), Marvel Heroes (just 2k as the game don't let you go higher), H1Z1, Rust or even the new Evolve or Elite:Dangerous and so forth are just amazing. Such a big quality jump from HD to UltraHD, i still can't believe that i played "just HD" before.

The thing is that you have to experience it by yourself. Looking on an 4K Screen in a showroom is not enough. But siting in front of it, just let's say 50 centimeters away from it is soooooo good. Honestly, you see thing you have't seen before. Also no AA is needed anymore, becaue there are simply no steps to see anymore.

I would STRONGLY suggest; GO 4 IT!!! NOW!

You wont regret any Cent/Penny you will invest.

I play with an i5-3570k and an 980GTX and all games i run have around 50-60 frames. It is amazing, all you can do is drool.

I also made a toipc on that here in the forums in the suggestion box, support it if you will as soon as you have sen what i see here as i write this.
