5.8 Snap Test Feedback and Bug Reports for 12/10/18

Recommended Posts

re druid patch notes: (not downloaded and checked)

where did grasping roots and soothing winds end up?

also please add normal avatar option to archdruid pack avatar node. just an option for a 5 minute reuse power slot is boring, would want the choice.

Cooking Stuff, maybe because of placeholder recipies?

What's going on with herb/seasoning in the cooking recipies? Every single recipe I've tested them on they appear to do nothing. Are these supposed to function or are they placeholder?

All permutations of Coffee are the same output.

Chocolate Bar has the same effect as Cookies with and without Chocolate bar as an input.

The interact range for wildcrafting nodes (all of them) is too damn small.

Wildcrafting nodes seem to be affected by hunger crystals but do not clearly message why they can't be harvested. This is an issue when they spawn near the edge of the hunger crystal radius.

Brigand Feedback

This is the mixed range stealther spec I wanted to play from the jump so I'm happy to see it making its way in to the game. However, there's some clunkiness going on with its kit.

Aero Spin

What's the idea here? As far as I can tell the whole point of Brigand is to have a low speed "lie in wait" or "reposition" stealth, but Aero Spin is built around waiting to use dagger spin until you've been in the melee tray a while. If I could slot it in bow and stealth trays it would make a lot more sense as I could do a backstab chain and then disengage and go ranged to build stacks up again, or restealth to get stacks up again. You didn't build this spec to brawl. You build it to DoT and skirmish in light armor. Why does its capstone passive reward brawling? This passive sucks for this spec.

Explosive Trap

This needs to be usable from my stealth tray. I am not a Warden that dares people to approach me. I'm an ambush specialist with a stealth tray. With a literal trap. With one stealth skill. That isn't that trap.

If I have to leave stealth to deploy my trap, its not very useful as an ambush tool. This is a non-issue for the other two specs. Its a point defense tool for archers and a key mechanic for the brawly warden. For Brigand, However, the melee range trap I can only activate in the small window in which I'm in melee and not in stealth makes it fairly useless.

I should be able to approach in stealth and set a trap I intend on disengaging in to, or sneak up and blow it as part of a setup. It is literally a device built for ambushing that can't be used in an ambush right now due to its melee tray restriction and short duration.

Treant Wood Stake

This is exactly the right modification for this spec. Its useful as an ambush tool and a skirmishing tool due to the slow and the instant deploy. Great job!

Overall Damage

The overall damage potential seems gimped compared to my survivability. You're asking me to rely on a single target damage debuff from twin surge and then stick around to get hit while I wait for Aero Spin to charge up. Either give me mail, an additional disengage tool, or give me more damage to compensate for my leather. I'm fine with being a squishy mixed range skirmisher, but I'm not durable enough in melee and not threatening enough at range. Ambush alone doesn't fix this damage problem.

Suggestions

Alter Aero Spin with a passive more appropriate for skirmishing.

Add some kind of disable or suppression to dagger spin so I can finish my chain to disengage.

Alternately, replace it with a buff for disengage in stead that puts me in the stealth tray in stead of the ranged tray after the leap and gives me a short stealth move speed buff so I can use disengage to reposition and reengage from odd angles or be more tricky.

Alternately replace it with a passive that allows casting self-effecting and ground target skills in stealth so I can use them to set up ambushes. This would allow a lot of unique disc synergies and emphasize the front loaded "ambushness" of the spec as different than the combo point ambushes other rogue classes do by giving me a larger potential pool of skills to ambush with, but leveraging my small energy pool to still balance them around my inability to cast all of them in a chain to set up a gank.

Alternately, just let me toss out more traps or have them last longer or something more "Brigand" themed than... spinning.

A few Druid issues:

  • Blight ground effect appears at feet of caster, not where it is targeted
  • Blight-caused detonating orbs do not appear visually until AFTER they have detonated and done their damage
  • Healing Rain's ground-applied circle and it's effect visual do not appear
  • Leeching Seed is granted to the Stormcaller Promotion but it is Life Tray only so they cannot slot it
  • The Earthkeeper Promotion line is not being visually excluded after you purchase the other lines, nor is it included in the 'exclusion warning' pop-up
  • Orbs not appearing correctly

Most my feedback corresponds with the game play experience.

  • Zones / islands feel way too small. Not sure if this is for performance or testing reasons. The travel time between objectives on the same island is way too short, and encourages pvp to consist of large blob of players crashing in to each other. The size of the zones and placement of the objective worries me, but I also know these can easily be changed (and hope they are). Larger space for zones and better (further) spaced objectives in the future would be preferable.
  • Combat still feels like a hot mess. Large scale feels like it degenerates quickly and from an individual perspective there really isn't much depth or nuances to combat. It feels a lot of gw2 but even more clunky.
  • The map should have more functionality. Maybe I'm too accustom to other games, but being able to place a way point on the map would be a nice feature. Also your party members should have different icons / colors to tell them apart and should show up on the map. I don't think this needs to be a skill, it should just be base level functionality.
  • The compass should reflect a lot of the aforementioned changes. A lot of games have compasses now and I think they do it significantly better than crowfall.

passive combat training doesnt seem to be applying to vessels at least crafted ones. trained crit hit dmg and it never went up, tried relogging as well. THIS IS A PRETTY BIG BUG

I can confirm this as well.  Trained + crit in passive training using a crafted vessel and it is not applying to my character (at least not on my stats page...).

This is a good question that I can answer. Seasonings are optional at the moment and are just placeholder. Ideally, these should work like additives in the future. We're still planning on expanding on the current set of cooking recipes in the future and we should have a wider range of options when that happens.

The hunger radius lack of notification when harvesting plants is a known issue, too.

test: cannot craft basic staff any more -  [nor any on vendor] so even as arch druid or earthkeeper i can't get my LMB orbs for main healing/ess generation once you've taken the effort to "unlock the life tray" by promotion at level 16++

oh and archdruid ONLY gets orbs + will-o-wisp and 5m reuse avatar [cannot get 'normal' avatar as an option]... and cant use grasping roots with sickle.

being forced to only get an advanced staff is pretty annoying.
