just a friendly note to those concerned...   arguing about each other's language skills, while it can be Fun at times....is a bit out of place in this kind of Thread, take it to Private Messages, im

If you want, I can give you some build ideas for your Board Warrior. Most of us have picked the Dark Forumer (melee dps) promotion class already. White Knight (tank) and Brown Noser (specialist) were

Those of us from higher society do not steal, such a action is for a lesser, which I find funny considering you a one.

It seems your still to broke to get Rosetta Stone though.... as expected.

Damn, numbers are really heavily skewed towards ranged right now :s

Yeah, kinda scary for "I want to hit you in your face" kind of players. Lots of soft targets though! :D

It's a good thing that this poll is in no way representative of what the distribution will be in the game at launch and after a few months. If you look at it though, the differences aren't that big, I think there's a good spread (apart from knight and templar, interestingly enough), it shows promise.

Prior to WoW, I've long preferred Archers/Rangers (although for WoW, I ended up being a Fire Mage, and enjoying the heck out of it); even today, that's still the first thing I look at for any new RPG. So, with that in mind, Ranger and Stalker definitely fit into my wheelhouse nicely. However, I'm also a dedicated Crafter, so a Forgemaster is also something I'll be looking at.

And we're only going to be allowed to have THREE characters? I want to play them all!

There will be an option to buy more slots I am sure :P

That was not the case at all in shadowbane.

Interesting. I never played SB so I wouldn't know. How did large scale pvp typically go down? And how big did mass pvp usually get in SB?

In my experience, melee typically gets focused fired to death before they could get anywhere.

Usually you got run over by a group of chargin centaurs, THEN you got set on fire by a group of cowards

I am all in for the guinecean. Since I prefer doing solo runs, I'd rather have a class that's high on dex and intelligence. It's spirit is also reasonable for its size. Attacks is not necessarily what helps you win a tactic war so I'm ok with its low attack. Plus its unknown specialist attack. I am pretty stoked for this character :)

Currently Rangers are my favorite, but not because "ERMERGERD BOWS/RANGED COMBAT" but rather because of their backstory, which i really like and felt connected to since the moment i read it.

Hopefully in the future with more lore/backstory, i will like them even more.

Edit. - Of course with so many archetypes, i like multiple, so i have like 2-3 favorites for now. Will see in the future how it goes.

Forgemaster until they release a promotional sub-class that functions primarily on the life on hit stat (seen on the character sheet) and bestowing life on hit to nearby allies/group members.

Bloodmage or Disciple of Kaine style.

I sincerely hope they do away with "Life on hit". That's such a tab target MMO style stat. If someone is going to be healed, it should be because someone properly aimed a single target or AoE heal their way. Life on hit is a passive mechanic and nothing should be passive in an action combat MMO. Active blocking and dodging, proper aiming of damage moves - no hit, block, evasion etc. stats, and likewise no "x on hit" stats. If you want to make something happen, you need to actively do so.  I'm not saying everything needs to be hard, but it needs to be a choice and it needs to involve skill in some way.

It's easier to be effective as a ranged character, in most games. Melee needs to be able to stick to a moving target well enough to keep them within weapon range; that's a problem ranged combat doesn't have. Also, ranged types who can successfully control distance-to-target can kill without being exposed to return fire; that's not an option melee ever has. So yes, without knowing more details it's a safe bet that a lot of people will prefer range.

With that said, the devil's in the details, and we're not going to be able to have a useful conversation about combat balance in CF until we have characters in game. We may very well end up with a situation where melee dominates the open field but ranged owns sieges, or a scissors/paper/rock design with melee, archers, and magic in a triangle, or any number of other possibilities giving each one a useful but different role.

Most games are horribly balanced and not focused on PvP. I have no idea how Crowfall is going to fare. I certainly hope we don't see ranged classes as only ranged classes. I really hope that melee classes are not just standing in the back waiting for the ranged to bring the walls/gate down. Melee should have most of the CC and the highest damage, it is really the only way for it to work. Risk vs. reward, right? And if all classes could have some melee, I think that would be pretty awesome. It could feel like an actual war, instead of the "pew pew from 50 ft away" crap that most games have.

I don't find it that interesting. I am not surprised by the poll at all. The large majority of people want to play Gandalf, Drizzzzzzt or L3gol4s. Go figure.

I get it, you'd rather play G1mLy
