Probably when they put up the 5.8.5 patch. TEST is only up when they have things they want to test before it goes to LIVE.

The LIVE server is up 24/7 (except for maintenance). There are separate patchers for TEST and LIVE. If you don't have the LIVE patcher, go back to the download page, download and install it.

Which seems rather silly for a game that has been in pre-alpha for 4 years. People actually want to test in an environment where they are free to do that without whatever outside factors. Although plenty of issues get reported and have been done so multiple times without any response or being added to the know bug list. So maybe there isn't much point anyway.

TEST is used as a staging server, it's needed because even though CF is only in pre-alpha, the game has a 24/7 LIVE production server running. They can't patch brand new builds directly to LIVE because there are always a few major play-blocking issues at first, and it would be too disruptive to the LIVE environment.

What's the harm in leaving the test server up to allow players to test at their speed? Adding the extra effort/time needed to do the same on Live to test rather mundane things seems like a lost opportunity if they are actually looking for feedback and bug hunting. Beyond the cost of keeping the server up, not sure what the issue is.

I think they use that same TEST server for internal testing when its not open to player testing.

Guess that would make some sense, but they also have testing environments they've shown off as well that look nothing like an actual map/server. Those might be running on local machines though. Is what it is. Here's to another year in pre-alpha... 🥂

Please no. God no.

They'll call it Alpha 1 soon, no worries.

Last June they thought "end of summer" would be Alpha time. Going on six months later and we still have 5.9 before we get to 6.0. Two months ago they thought "first campaigns" would start but we get the Trials which seem to be basically the same thing. Along with that they mentioned that Alpha wouldn't have everything in the game. If that's the case, might as well call what we have as Alpha as adding Dregs and more PVE doesn't exactly propel the current version much further. By their own definition of stages, we are in Alpha. Not that this stage titles mean or change anything.

Regardless, lots is missing and far from finished. No rush, the pieces will come when they are ready, but there are quite a few to come.

Baffling how they thought Alpha or better Beta would be so long ago. Must be an interesting internal timeline they have posted (or isn't?).
