They should never get in the habit of temporary fixes to a problem as complex as missing guild features.

I'd agree with the sentiment that no great amount of development time should go into making temporary fixes to replace missing features. I don't agree that they should nix already existing features that serve as placeholders for missing systems. That seems to be an extremist/illogical stance.

/who is being abused by all the great houses/guilds for instantaneous and 100% accurate ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) with no effort and no risk.  It’s easily abused and has become the meta.  It was the same in the lead devs previous game and it should have been removed there too.

Whatever we think the intended function is it’s being ruthlessly abused by all the people who want to win.  As one of those people, ISR should never be 100% accurate, infailable, easy and remote.  If I wanna know how many chaos are in a zone I should have to scout it out, not type /who and know who is 100% in the zone.

Totally depends on how hard it is to implement - they already have the tech for  /who so might be something easy to limit that to guild (I have no idea). As always, I give feedback about what I think will make a better play experience, and assume ACE will make the right call on priorities.

This has nothing to do with leaving it in for guilds and guilds only as I suggested.

With time they could probably put it back in for other channels, tho honestly I hope they don’t for the same reasons they removed it from the “common” channels. Spying is a huge part of the game and giving a path that grants some form of 100% knowledge that players have no control over is always gonna be a point of contention. It’s trivial to get an alt into a guild of any significance, and bam you now have 100% perfect knowledge of that guilds online members. Leave that sort of “current active” stuff to outside of the game, theirs easy solutions to it that don’t impact the strategic aspects of the game and sidestep player controls like a command in chat channels do.

As for why it was a quick disable across the board, I’m betting the commands are abstracted such that they simply exist for every item of the chat tab type and you can’t remove it for a specific tab without codifying a bunch of logic to recognize the differences between chats and add exception cases to ignore the command given a certain tab and probably permission. Thus non-trivial to implement compared to using the probably built in system of restricting certain commands based on some account security level. Maybe a few hours vs 30 sec change basically.

I want to know where people live when I do a /who. We need to embrace this feature and take it to the next level. For quite some time, I have felt that Soulein has not appreciated your forum work, Mandalore. I would like to pick you up in my white van and take you out for a night on the town. You deserve it!

With the new /who feature I could make a surprise vacation instead of a planned one!!

I am joking, Pann. I do not plan to kidnap Mandalore. He just tripped and fell into the van and wanted to spend the weekend in my basement.

I don't think Mandalore remembers =(

EDIT: That's ok... we'll just keep it between me and your subconcious.

My favorite DM’s are when people ask me if I’m part of OBS so I tell them riddles and never respond if they get it right or wrong; always another riddle.
