Dev Diary: Powers Load-out

How will the leadership passive work if two people both have it? Will it automatically be based on the leader of the group? Currently, if more than 1 person in the group has the passive slotted, it doesn't give the buff to either of them, regardless of who the leader is.

I think you are mistaken here. The buff works even if multiple people in the group have it slotted. Only the group leader's leadership counts.

I'm not seeing in those screenshots where we slot the powers. Is it just the ones in the top row?

I would think you'd slot the powers into your power bar.

Does this mean the active powers that used to be tied to Gathering discs will be triggered elsewhere or are they all gone? I mean where will 'take if down' be triggered so I can yell at  @srathor that he missed the rotation?  In the https://crowfall.com/en-US/news/articles/dev-diary-power-tray i am not seeing an alt trigger or anything

Don't forget, the one EK that no one will judge you for looting your guilds treasury is Anhrez's Doober Shack. Where you can take those long con gains and 'simplify' them to more easily fit in your inventory. While you are unloading your hard earned winnings, swing by the Bazaar and pick up something to celebrate your genius.

I'm sure I've had issues with it in the past and had to remove the passive from one of them, but I just tested it and it's working as you suggest.

Interesting that Trailmaster is active in all trays. Does this mean that Trailmaster now works in combat and stealth? I doubt it but trying to glean some more info from this than what is specifically being said. :P

They said in the last update that we don’t have separate harvest and. Combat trays or stances — so it will be cool to find out how they balance that

Thanks to Art Craft for slowly leaking out some real details !

I imagine trailblazer/trailmaster are in both ranged and melee trays because once you exit combat, whether you're in ranged or melee mode, you'll get the buff.

@Anhrez looks like harvesters will have to give up some combat ability slots to slot those harvesting powers like "Take it down".

I'm curious if you'll be able to hot swap abilities while in combat or if you'll only be able to do that while out of combat. Currently, I think you can do it while in any tray as long as the ability you want to remove isn't on cooldown.

Can’t we have a Dev Diary about what players actually want to know? Instead of rehashing what had already been said in a stream or two?

I applaud any attempt to reduce the information vacuum, but skills and power trays go hand in hand and don't really warrant 2 separate communications, and it is all old information to boot.  New info would be better.

The UI looks great and I'm glad to see that, but if Dev Diaries are going to to be a regurgitation of older information in a new format and with just a few more of the finer details then I'd prefer to see that information presented as concisely as possible; we know there won't be any documentation for 5.110 but this could be an opportunity for ACE to get some details down in writing for everyone to reference without actually generating official documentation at this point.

There is no slotting of passives, whenever a passive is granted to you it is just activated and shown on the list on the left. (Assuming of course that passive is eligible for the current selected tray, ie it wont show any stealth restricted passives if you are in the melee tray.)

Trailblazer/master passive is active in both melee/ranged trays and is active as long as you are out of combat. Once you enter combat, you lose the buff. Dropping out of combat starts the pathfinding buff for 9 seconds and once that ends Trailblazer/master buff returns.

No restrictions on swapping, but you will have UI in your face potentially while being attacked.

I hope you gave Centaurs a passive that makes them run faster (in or out of combat) than 2 legged losers.

Centaur and Elken both get the trailmaster passive due to those sturdy legs!

@blazzen I sure hope we get more info. Does that mean Dizzy is gone when I am gathering ?  I have a lot of worries about the new format but I'll hold off on being to hyperbolic until we see it in action.

My greatest gathering concern is something @jtoddcoleman and @thomasblair hit on with Caravans. If I have a Green Iron ore boulder that be refined to X pieces to craft with why do I solo gather? In the past I was told to get a team together to protect my harvesting efforts, now the body guards would get more impact possibly doing caravans then working with me?  I thought I heard refining can also get you the rare spec'd materials. if so imho it could be a HUGE mistake in the econ game loop.

Right now with the limited info I have it seems a specialist spec'd in caravans can do what a deeply trained gatherer can also do. I am not sold on that concept currently. We have a dedicated training path for gathering, combat and crafting. I am already seeing weapons drop from creatures,  is caravan refining  also lessening the impact of the non-combat training paths?

As things are in 5.100, as skilled craftsmen can make gear far better than any of the loot gear.

Tribes loot may feed into the easy come easy go narrative, and it will be very important after the wipe when no one has any skills, but barring incoming changes it's not going to replace crafting.
