Ranger Or Stalker

Recommended Posts

ranger, love his backstory

in my opinion these are their features:

Stalker: non-magic, agile, 1v1 character?

Ranger: hybrid of magic/physical, more direct champion (fight till win or lose), maybe more dmg or more specialized in multiple targets fight?

backstory? what is that?

Like all PVP games.. only the OP classes/builds will survive the rest of the classes will be laughed at and never used until the nerf hammer comes out.. then everyone will change meta..

Please nerf paper, Scissors are fine!
Signed rock..

Some of us hope our chosen flavor of Archetype is the weak link.  Nothing is more satisfying that standing over a frozen corpse in the middle of winter, with that awe-struck look of bewilderment locked on it's face for the rest of time.

Everyone loves an underdog.

Well Stalkers get one more point of Dexterity then Rangers do but that also means we get less creation points. Will likely have to see the base skills and abilities for the final decision for me but right now just based on Race I'm leaning Stalker aka Murder Deer.

Fear the Deer!

What makes you think Rangers will use magic?

Name the stalker "Amillionbucks"

Either way I'd like to know what sets the Stalker apart from the Ranger as both seem very similar.

You can read on my thoughts of what the difference is in this post of mine regarding the ranger's role.  It is all about the character narrative, those aren't just for show.

The Stalker in my opinion is more of a independent class that can damage, run, and hide from opponents.

Very hard (for me) to tell the difference other than the cosmetic.  The ranger's story is from his perspective and has a holy woodman, doing what is necessary, sort of vibe... they call them warders.

The stalker story on the other hand is from a pursuer's point of view, and you can see the trickery and skill the stalker uses to evade and finally kill the narrator.

They have almost the same attributes, with the stalker having an extra point in Dex (makes me assume the humans will get more points to spend)

I see nothing that can conclude any difference because you are not give viewpoints on the same subjects.

I'm curious as to how Stalkers and Rangers will differ. From what I've seen, Rangers might have more utility/CC abilities as a "specialist" (the possible mask in the logo leads me to believe stealth might be included), whereas Stalkers look to be more focused as strictly ranged damage. The Stalker name alone alludes to a stealth vibe as well though, so who knows (minus devs, of course). I'm looking forward to seeing a draft of an abilities list or more info on archetype specifics whenever it's released. Until then, trying to not get my hopes up one way or another!

I Played Shadowbane

Stalker sounds a lot like Scout. Which was a fairly squishy fast class with a lot of tracking and detection skills. Good for running around finding people, and could in theory be built with pretty okay damage. They did okay in combat, but usually took advantage of their mobility and stealth.

I totally forget what Ranger was like tho.

Personally, I see CF's Ranger filling the Scout - class role as specialist and Stalker being some sort of physical damage nuker on it's core.

I agree,

I would think the Stalker would be the typical mmorpg "rogue" with high burst dmg, but low defenses.

^ I can get on board with that speculation. I really hope Ranger (or any class, really) isn't restricted so heavily in damage output that they're not viable in 1v1 combat though, if true.
