Caravans eliminate harvesting?

Recommended Posts

If I can do a caravan run in 15 minutes in Gods reach, I can get 3-400 ore or wood etc. It doesn't make sense to get exploration? you could argue, mounts or something.

  • Will caravans only be in pvp areas excluding the infected?

Now assuming some pvp god player kills everyone doing caravans, why should that player have to put points into exploration disciplines? Shouldn't exploration and minor disciplines be switched in the talent tree?

In addition to what Yoink said, you're only going to get common quality resources from GR caravans. And you won't get dust, so you'll need to harvest the traditional way anyway. The caravans exist in GR more for training purposes than for actually harvesting resources. If you refine a block of stone in GR, you get 50 stone. If you refine it in Infected, you get 100 stone. If you refine it in Dregs, you get 200 stone. With more risk comes more reward.

The exploration nodes in the talent trees don't cost any points, so it doesn't matter where they are.

They also be a little more competed over when they done just give common resources like in campaigns where you can often harvest safely in less trafficked area.

If you spec into harvesting and trained up it will be better than caravans imo.

Harvesting takes 10 years to get to somewhere useful atm passive tree need to be a little more frontloaded :(
