Stylistically What Archetypes Would You Like To See?

Recommended Posts

Bard

Weapon: Instrument

Instrument type: Flute, Lute, Harp, Violin, Drums, etc (Difference could be some bonus to certain sets of skills, such as +healing, +defense, +buffs, etc)

How do skills work:  You play different chords, these cords when done in a sequence produce an effect such as a buff, or a HoT or +defense or +attack).

I played Forsaken World (p2w, f2p, not really good but it was free) and I loved the Bard.  The weapon was a Harp and you'd have to play chords in order to get your abilities to work.  The abilities told you which chords to play (such as C,B,B,A for a heal. A,B,B,D for an attack).  It was the most interesting type of play I've seen.  Much better than hit a skill and you hear some music and an effect happens.

I just posted this in another thread but I could see this game having more greek mythology creatures like Minotaurs and Satyrs.

Maybe lean a bit more towards narnia and add in another animal lol?  :P

There were Pixies in Horizons (now called Istaria). It was pretty sweet because the servers had to unlock the race (they were trapped).

I'd really like to see something like TERA's Priest. I'm a little unclear on how significant healing will be in the game, but if there are classes that can heal, I greatly enjoyed the mechanics of the priest in TERA. Both the mobility and the necessity of aiming heals and getting into position to heal people was quite enjoyable.

I also think it would be cool to have an iceman - esque class. Given the tech behind the game, it would be really cool to construct voxels on the fly and modify the terrain as a physical means of area denial and group routing. Could also be like a earth bender or something, idk :D

Bard for sure. I have always loved buffing style support classes. If only we could make our own music...

As far as support I liked the style of Aion's Chanter a lot. The skills were overall great for a support class and it felt like it had a bit of that dynamic nature that healers typically do in many games. That's part of why they're so fun and part of why Chanter was more fun than support in other games that just had rotations and stood in the back doing nothing but that. But it didn't have the Bard style (which was a good thing for me). It wore chain mail, had a staff that it used for some really awesome melee attacks (and they also applied debuffs, stuns, KDs, etc.), and had buffs styled after spoken/"chanted" (obviously) things - basically your monk turned battle support person. "Mantras" for permanent auras, "Word" for short term buffs or and certain heals, "Promise" for self buffs, etc. I'm sure other games have Enchanter/Chanter styled support classes but I enjoy them much more than Bard style classes. And aside from the style difference and cool buffs, it's a class like that really makes sense when they're attacking as opposed to a Bard with a musical intstrument pulling out a Bow. I dunno, just doesn't seem as deadly with the idea of a guy playing music and skipping through the streets of some medieval town.. I feel like Bards would fall down dead pretty quickly, but a Chanter is not to be messed with - and I think a magical Enchanter style class would also have that "not to be messed with" feeling.

Human Wizard, we have a fire priest but I prefer something more arcane in origin.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome. - River Tam

I'm liking both the Illusionist and Bard ideas. More support/specialist characters please! Tactical stuff like mass buffs, mass crowd controls, proper useful illusion (mass invisibility, or mass projection, epic stuff like that).

Also, more animal/monster characters would be cool, always loved animal characters.

Personally, I am rather fond of the "Rift" and to some degree "ArcheAge" style of bard/songcraft. I would really like to see a class that has alot of AOE buffs/debuffs/healing-over-time. I am generally a "group-preferred" player and like to have the widest affect possible on the group I am with at the time.

Rift was the worst for support characters. They just stood in the back with their rotation doing the same thing over and over so they had their buffs and debuffs always up. Support should not function like that. They should be forced to make on the fly decisions about what skills to use when to really make an impact on the fight. You shouldn't have all buffs up all the time. Sure some long term buffs are great, but shorter term skills with cooldowns or other limitations that the support character has to use at the right time to really change the tide of combat. Those are the most interesting types of support classes IMO.

We need a scientist/engineer archetype. Almost everyone is magical/earth-focused and there are no archetypes to act as a foil them. Even the Forgemaster is very associated with earth and stone

Might I interest you in a low-interest mortgage?

I'm seeing a lot of chatter on a couple of different guild forums and on these forums by people hoping for a true Bard style of class.

Personally I'm hoping for either Were-creature type of sub classes like SB's, or throwing weapons (again like SB). Both would be great, as its not really been done in other MMO's.

Stealth werebear unarmed rogue barbs FTW.

The Suddenly BEARS spec was only almost the best thing ever. So many bears. So many stuns. So sudden. Hilarious.

I want to see more non human specialists with stance advantages. Maybe a four armed race, master at arms type or something. I like all the specialists, the more vastly different archetypes the better
