caledon 182 Posted February 25, 2015 What do you feel would make the best promotion classes for our Assassin? Rogue Assassin - For the up close and personal business Mage Assassin - Killing from range Thief - The reason for the "specialist" icon, the ability to steal. epee11c 12 Posted April 1, 2015 I feel like she is going to be an actual assassin. Magic may be worked in but I definitely see a dive bomb and rush out mechanic going on here where during a fight she could drop behind enemy lines and take out the ranged/melee dps targets as well as pest control between fights (killing scouts). I hope I'm somewhat close because it would be epic to have a battle going on then an assassin drops in out of nowhere blowing up the last 3/4 of someone's health bar then jumping and gliding a short distance away. They will probably make her high risk high reward. If you can set things up properly you can blow someone up but if you don't hit hard enough right away or get cced you may find yourself re-spawning a few resources lighter. epee11c 12 Posted April 1, 2015 This is just my hopes and ideas, nothing confirmed. As for promotion classes I could see something ranged maybe??? I think it would be more like -mastery of duel knives (for super high dps for short periods consistantly) -better flight control and more damage when dropping on someone out of flight (+cc?) (for a potential for super high dps and more flexible entries... if you are skilled enough) -and maybe an assassin that has some spellblade-esk magic (specifically to target the mage dpsers)
arro 143 Posted April 2, 2015 I dont think the assassin will have many ranged tools but instead if we take a look at the promotion classes for the templar, they are so different from one another. A paladin, judicator and Fury all with different weapons and fighting styles but all meele. I think we´ll see a pure assassin - Dual wielding small weapons with lightning fast speed and accuracy but if caught off guard against 1-3 players very vurnerble Than we´ll have a fighter assassin -Dual wielding two medium weapons or one small and one medium, able to deal a lot of damage under some circomstances but can also hold there ground when cought off guard. Thief/scout This one will be tricky to make, because everyone must be able to fight somewhat and untill we know how important scouting or thiefing from other people really is, we cant be sure if this will even be a promotion class maybe a discipline instead Ranged This one I am sceptical about but can surely happen, some blinks in and out or a bow or even as you say magic. Arrogance diminishes wisdom
Bremmen 141 Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Mist Walker - High Evasion glass cannon who uses the mist itself to fight. Using either fist weapons or daggers this close combat assassin uses the power of mist to confuse its enemies and attack without being seen. Using moves like Shadow Deceiver to fool there enemies to thinking your in a different location and Cripple to lock down those pesky mages. Whilst in the mist the Mist Walker has a 10% move speed buff, but once the stalker comes out Pros High Dmg Great Siege tactics due to mist High Evasion Great Distraction Techniques Cons Only wears light armour cant use anything more then daggers or fist weps Glass cannon so don't get smashed Xd Really relies on mist to be most effective Edited April 27, 2015 by Bremmen Hey just Shout Bremmen and he will, Rise and Destroy the people you wish decimated
bahamutkaiser 2,377 Posted May 14, 2015 It's not particularly pertinent, but I figured this would be a good place for https://youtu.be/CfGuKm9qSzY Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes... snissel 70 Posted June 25, 2015 I'm hoping the promotion classes are based of roles: CC AOESingle target I think roles will help people figure out what promotion class they want. 2 BlackMagic and Orkanen reacted to this

Dondagora 832 Posted September 3, 2015 Nah, I don't think ACE is gonna screw too much with the purity of purpose of each archetype, meaning a single-target stealthy focuser like the Assassin won't become an AoE spell caster. My bets on simply expanding/specializing in areas of play already available. In the Assassins case, the main points to expand on are stealth, spike damage, and wings. slith 75 Posted September 6, 2015 I always like poisons/toxins in assassin class. Also various stealth attacks as oppeners. Stealthing with wings...sounds tricky. The Blond Myth of Aquilonia www.assassinshideout.com
Scree 1,856 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Yea I'd agree with Snissels assumption that its going to be based off of damage types and not roles. A thief "role" would be better served by adding an Archetype with the current system then adding it as a promotion class. imortalis 145 Posted November 3, 2015 I don't see the assasin having a ranged proffesion, cuz of the wings, unless it's not real flight but more of a chicken jump, but I could seea throwing knife skill of some kind, maybe a disc that gives it to you

Citadel_1664 206 Posted November 8, 2015 I agree, it would kind of take away from the ranger if the assassin was as strong at range (even if its only mages) As soon as I saw ranged assassin that's exactly what came to mind! RKNM 397 Posted November 8, 2015 You already have access to stealth and access to high damage abilities. How is making this ranged going to be a good idea in terms of balance. Taking the 2 most overpowered mechanics in MMO's/gaming and putting them into 1...i'n still not sure how they are going to do it with rangers (unless they plan on making them like scouts in shadowbane, where their direct damage capabilities were sub-par at best), as they'll have access to range, stealth, AND pets (they've mentioned that pets would be included in the game for everyone, but so far, the only class to feature it is the ranger)
Zim 386 Posted November 8, 2015 I can see them giving the assasins some pseudo ranged abilities through discs but not promos. They already have the ranger, that would be redundant to make two classes of essentially the same playstyle whether you use magic or bows. Frost weaver necromancer class though? Gimme. imortalis 145 Posted November 8, 2015 shadow walker - backstab & cripple & debilitate, retreat, melee rogue, more weapon choices hashshashin- blind, poison, throwing darts, slightly ranged contractor- traps, small bombs, AoE,s 1 specialty weapon
gizmaul 439 Posted November 8, 2015 To me it is not the real deal unless it is up close and personal. I feel it gets cheesy with stealth mages and archers. I start to agree with the haters when we start letting people have stealth from range. Part of the balancing act for stealth being powerful is that you have to work in close to use it! Zim 386 Posted November 12, 2015 I agree with Giz. No matter what they decide as far as promotions I'm going to be up close and personal and built for all out damage and very little defense like all assassins should be! The Infanta 16 Posted November 14, 2015 I'd love to see the assassin promotion classes to be a bit like different jobs! Maybe like a venoms master, who is trained in the arts of poisons and potions, a headhunter, who is like a critical strikes master that goes for super high critical damage as well as debilitating blows, and a martial artist, who uses combos to juggle their foes, and deal critical strikes in the combos! Those are the 3 Promotions I'd like! Honestly Ace could go any direction with the assassin, and I'm super excited to see what happens!! Only the strong survive
