Undead’s Permanent Dregs!

Recommended Posts

As per the live stream JTodd will be looking into a more permanent Dregs with a super giant map.  It is intended as a place where people can bring their hard won resources from campaigns back to.

We’ll live in a world with Walls (and rules).  But what will those rules be?  It’s hard to say because we have no idea what the new territory control system will be.

Should the resource nodes only be level 8?

Should the mobs only drop up to blue?

Should you be able to progress a body to gold?

What would be the reason to go to the campaigns?

Will the new territory control system be active in campaigns and permanent dregs?

Can we make the map so huge that every guild can have a keep spot?

Will there be upkeep if you have multiple keeps so the zergs don’t take every keep spot?

Can we sell parcels to players so they can use their $500 Kickstarter castles?

Will these castles be destroyable?

Will we tie VIP to these player castles?

Would it be better on server load to have an auction place and not a million vendors?

If we free build and put a vendor down, what happens if we lose that land... will the enemy get my vendor?

So many questions?  You are basically designing a new game for us!

Can’t wait to see what you come up with for territory control and for the permanent dregs if you decide to do it!

All the same level nodes as dregs. Make the map huge though so we can all stay in one zone to minimize loading with the temple portals in a triangular placement. People who want to push rewards can go hit dregs hard while the guild vs. guild constant server is more a permanent home base.

The only way this makes sense is if it doesn't have any resource nodes at all. Why would anyone bother with campaigns if they can get all that stuff without having to constantly farm to build up new keeps? Like, if you need to be at least 50% in a category what incentive is there at all to go to dregs unless you're *certain* you can hit those reward tiers?

They already have permanent maps in the form of EKs. If you want people to have a place to bring their stuff and fight over stuff it would make more sense to have some kind of opt-in EK pvp thing.

Even then, the idea is that campaigns are the endgame, not some super-map that is the REAL endgame that you feed campaigns with, so it seems goofy to me they are even considering such a thing. Like they're really scrambling to do a buncha hogwash to fix retention problems without addressing the reason for retention problems being that sending people from infected to dregs is a terrible new player experience and the game actually needs faction campaigns to serve as a functional medium tier.
