As i can't find any news on what's coming or even planned for the game atm - does anyone know if there is still work being done? after the switch where it was said that the team gets bigger, crowfall will be better and so on there hasn't been any decent update or even news on anything but new campaigns. no more monthly updates, basically nothing - appears it all just got worse.

from the outside when checking in here and there it very much seems like we are done here sadly? :( enjoyed my time and was hoping to check in back someday ^^

They should have moved assets to a better game engine that can support "massive siege battles" without so much lag. I think they may have chosen to "fix" the current game as it is and realized its so effed that theres no salvaging it lol

Tiggs has been communicating some small updates on the official discord. Mostly those updates are that they are still bringing the new hires up to speed on the current systems and won't be able to create a realistic roadmap until that has been done.

Yeah we had the same problem with our plumbing company. We hired 2 new apprentice plumbers and told receptionist not to give customers times on when we could repair there broken plumbing as we were bringing  the new guys up to speed with plumbing systems. Lol.

The difference between discord and the official forums.

Discord is full of fanboy shills praising the bad game.

Official forum full of people wanting the game to be better.

Haven't logged into Discord, have you?  It's now packed full (and still filling up) with new and old suggestions for improving the game now that Tiggs added forum functionality.

The problem with Discord is the lack of visibility. If a new player is checking out CF, they're going to the forums, not Discord, for information, and what they're going to find is a ghost town. Also, things move so fast on Discord, that unless you're glued to it, it's hard to keep up. Log in and there's 200+ messages. No thanks.

It's a massive mistake to move community activity to Discord. You have these perfectly functional and clean forums just collecting dust, meanwhile, the devs would prefer you use their messy Discord that most won't have the interest or patience to navigate.

Yes and yet this perfectly good official forum continues to be neglected....while discord is their preferred shill factory.

They have to move where the people go. If people actually used these "perfectly functional" forums, then they wouldn't be needing forums on Discord.

The Discord Forums create threads, just like here. Not the fast moving wall of text.

It's weird you disparage the medium that people who actually play seem to prefer.  Maybe when Monty fixes all the things and people come back to the game, more than 5 people will post in these forums.

Have they actually shared any real information about the game's future?

From what I've gathered, they have purchased 8 games, are hiring, training, dumping cash on forgettable and dying products hoping new customers come along.

At least most of their games likely share some degree of dev overlap being mobile card clones.

The few still keeping the servers from falling a sleep and giving the same solutions that have been repeated countless times are not the future of this game.

because the 50 people who play dont matter.  The forums should be the primary form of communication for discussions and such.  Sort of like the class balance stuff.   Everyone wanted the council thingy which is pointless.  Where we could actually discuss stuff in the forms , show the community is somewhat alive & maybe give monumental some decent feedback for the future of CF.

Best bet would be to utilize Tiggs for stuff like that since she's been the communication for them.  Consolidate stuff that as we as a community come up with.  Those balance threads in the class section alone are good info if we can eventually agree on some stuff.    Sort of the point of the whole dislike and likes posts she does but don't think they go in depth as much as they should.

If Tiggs was as active on the forums as she is on Discord, I think you'd see more activity on the forums. Why does the roadmap question constantly get brought up on Discord? Because that's where the devs are.

And it is a fast wall of text. Monty made a comment on the current state of development on the game--which I would've completely missed had @OldMan not screenshoted it.  And it's one of those comments that's actually kind of useful to know, especially for those who've been asking for a roadmap. But most wouldn't know about it, because it got swept away in the chit-chatty general discussion thread.

Again, no secrets here - we've mostly had our heads down.

The biggest things we've learned over the last five months is just how limited we are in what we can do with Crowfall's tech.

Our goal is to have 100 characters on screen at 60 FPS with better visuals.

We aren't there yet. So the team is conducting a deep tech evaluation. The next few sprints include three strike teams:

* A performance team: figuring out where the engine is and isn't performant -- this includes new instrumentation, bot testing and identifying our biggest performance risks.

* An engine evaluation team: working directly with Unity on technical architecture and art reviews -- also evaluating other options to hit our above goal.

* A design evaluation team: we're reviewing existing systems to better understand how they work and can be optimized -- and a deep competitive analysis of current MMO game systems.

Once we get on the other side of this evaluation, it will tell us how much of Crowfall will need to be reenforced, refurbished, or completely rebuilt.

Start of a roadmap?

Lets start a kickstarter for a new game called crowfall to be released in 7 years!
