timetraveler is ACTUALLY Ghandi.

Actually, with a username like that it kinda makes sense.

Neat to see where people are landing, too.

Hahaha ;)

It's pretty weird that in real life I'm into green politics but when it comes to gaming I want all the hardcore and highly competitive aspects.

Economic Left/Right: 1.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.82

I call BS to this thing.

Hitler is on the right economically?...He was a national socialist. That would put him on the left.

But according to the graph the devils baker and I are the same economically...and that is pure unadulterated BS. I am more in line with Thomas Sowell and ole milty Friedman. Love me some ann rand too!!

Socially I am personally conservative...but I have no desire to use the government to compel others to my beliefs....or vice versa

Economically  I am free market libertarian.

this test is for people who don't  know what they believe to be told what they should be.

Wow, pretty much the opposite position to what I expected, I've apparently been getting more leftist as I've gotten older.

so glad someone piped up here.....you are making many of my Points for me...

first...to go all kinds of Ayn (not Ann) Rand and get all Objectivist...if A=A, then definitions count...NOT the lies some sell, especially Authoritarians and Collectivists....of which both the top Right and top Left examples on the Compass are...

clue one...Despots lie...there was no "national socialism"...just about all sane scholars call the gummy bear regime what it was...fascist, and due to the very tenets of fascism (as set down by Musollini) by definition it is a product of the Authoritarian Right, since business and government are one and the same thing...this as opposed to Lenin/Stalin form of "left" totalitarianism which took away all private property for the "state"

both totalitarian regimes had one thing in common...the average person was screwed so that the ruling oligarchy could have everything...

with actual definitions in mind you can see that calling Nazis "socialists" is like calling the Chinese government "Republicans" just because of the name used for the country.... Q.E.D.

now, the second ...and relevant bit...you noticed that Obama was far right and high level authoritarian...it's because he is by sane definitions according to the objective evidence...he is to the Right of Nixon ffs...a Lefty woudl have produced "medicare for all" instead of subsidizing the Insurance industry (fascism style) with the Affordable Care Act and so on...

in the U.S.  our perceptions of what is the Center are horribly skewed due to 30 years of the Overton Window being deliberately exploited by some on the Right for their own purposes, by constantly insisting on going further and further to the "Right" it has the effect of pulling the Window over past the Center....the results are as we see them today....where someone on par with Margaret Thatcher is now called a "commie"

could just be me...

I hit around -4.5 on both, but some of those questions were loaded.

A little more economically conservative than Ghandi (and much easier on Jews than Ghandi).

I put myself slightly right of center on the economic axis. I just don't trust big corporations.

-4.5 Libertarian sounds right to me.

Sadly, that is the current core mechanic of the American electoral system, fear. You don't really like this guy, but you'll vote for anything to keep that guy out of the chair.

What a way to pick a leader. He's not as bad as the other guy. sheesh.

I'd get a laugh on where they would put a Mikhail Bakunin on the ol chart. He is supposedly an anarchist!...lol Why because he didn't believe in a centralized all powerful state.

"If you took the most ardent revolutionary, vested him in absolute power, within a year he would be worse than the Tsar himself" Mikhail Bakunin

He knew that much power would only corrupt ppl. (interesting guy to read up on)

I think the constitution got it mostly right.

Too bad neither party adheres to it.

As much as possible government should be as local as possible. The idea that some unnamed un accountable bureaucrat in DC  should make rules/regulations and run a school in a state 1500 miles away is shear nonsense. If a bunch of health nuts in a town want their kids to eat tofu, and soy salads and they flip for it wit h their taxes...have at it. But to have unelected Michelle Obama decree from on high what kids should be fed is undemocratic and downright illegal. If I have a complaint I can go to the local school board and raise cain, and or vote for/against that school board member. There is accountability.

Currently there is no accountability with our centralized unconstitutional big gov system.

Sadly if you're 30 year old or less you have not been taught civics. You might think you have...but you haven't. With few exceptions most millennials don't even understand free speech, except their own selfish desire to say what they want.

Heck the concept of RULE OF LAW(google it), no longer applies. How do a bunch of LAWyers write a LAW, don't read it, don't put it out publicly for review, vote on it, and make it the law of the land. Then exempt themselves and their friends from it (Obamacare)! And that's ok.

How can a bunch of unelected bureaucrats take over the internet(net neutrality) without making the new rules public, no congressional review, no public debate, except Google Inc got to fix what it wanted in it.

let me get off my soapbox

Sorry Doc Nazis were socialist...just very...um...selective....they sent anyone who disagreed with them to the showers...not just the Jews.

ok, quite a bit here...excuse me for the discomforting format used to Respond...

Doc sez: thanks for the info, will put this guy on the "List"

I think the constitution got it mostly right.

Too bad neither party adheres to it.

Doc sez: agreed on both counts

As much as possible government should be as local as possible. The idea that some unnamed un accountable bureaucrat in DC  should make rules/regulations and run a school in a state 1500 miles away is shear nonsense. If a bunch of health nuts in a town want their kids to eat tofu, and soy salads and they flip for it wit h their taxes...have at it. If I have a complaint I can go to the local school board and raise cain, and or vote for/against that school board member. There is accountability.

Currently there is no accountability with our centralized unconstitutional big gov system.

Doc sez: here's one of the Point wherein contention resides...you specifically cite the School system, but it IS the local board of Education...one of the smallest units of government possible...that has, over the last 35 years, to cut latin, greek, civics, music and more but HAS instead a nice football field and higher paid Administrators

in my experience and readings, it seems that the small units of government are just as ripe for corruption, and it is far easier to do on the small scale...hence the needs for checks and balances by county, state and federal overview...each supposedly keeping the others honest and checking the Work

then there's police departments...do we need to go there?

but i agree, the Constitution pretty well had it...there's just been a lot of poorly made socks done and worse, not done....from Nixon onwards...

Sadly if you're 30 year old or less you have not been taught civics. You might think you have...but you haven't. With few exceptions most millennials don't even understand free speech, except their own selfish desire to say what they want.

Doc sez: sad , but true...

How can a bunch of unelected bureaucrats take over the internet(net neutrality) without making the new rules public, no congressional review, no public debate, except Google Inc got to fix what it wanted in it.

let me get off my soapbox

ummm...on net neutrality....as far as i can tell, all it's done is to affirm that a packet is a packet is a packet....no more, no less

it falls under the Charter for the FCC, is their authorization...believe me, if it had gone the other way i'd be screaming bloody murder

but as long as a packet is a packet....there's some glimmer of Hope, imo...

but that's why this isn't about any singular Nation's politics....it's about taking a step away from it to see how it all fits in a reasonable fashion using a simple scattershot model style...

the big difference, is that from north to south....the Authoritarian versus Libertarian, whenever i put this up, it warms me to no end to find that the vast majority are south of Center there....the economic side is a very different Argument, very valid, but different...

you see, in my personal politics...i REQUIRE other points of view that don't agree with me, as the Gnostics said "iron sharpens iron"...the Discussion, finding and correcting flaws form the adversarial process...that is how good decisions should be made....but the foundation of that, what's been missing from the Constitutional interpretations of many....is agreeing on basic Reality, once that's accomplished the rest can be achieved

that's no mean feat, however...

yeah...such the big Lefty that the Dow is over 18k, S&P 2k and NASDAQ hit 5k....fewkin' commie!!!

its called artificially low interest rates and the unaccountable...un auditable fed reserve.

the Dow isn't up because home depot is selling washing machines or from real economic activity.

its because the fed is printing money for free and shoving it into wall street banks.

this bubble will pop eventually

Your Political Compass

Economic Left/Right: -3.63

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

Simply put, I don't trust the government and never will, but nor do I trust insanely large corporations.  I am pro-capitalism and business, I just like restraints because unrestrained devotion to the religion of Ayn Rand is kinda effin psychotic or oblivious or a mixture of both.  I would vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat, but not his son, even though I don't fully agree with Ron, and my views tend to fall in line with the Green Party more than anything else.  I am anti-foreign intervention and imperialism, especially our regime-toppling and -propping past and present both in South and Central America as well as the Middle East.  You can support the troops without supporting the war effort, and unfortunately, dying overseas was not dying to protect American freedoms no matter how jingoistic you wish to be, it's simply a waste of good men and womens' lives who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that our politicians and moneyed interest could screw them over.  We have created most of the problems in the Middle East that we are dealing with today.  I love my country but despise my government, which no longer functions and will take the Herculean effort of many to fix, but I realize it'll probably have to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I believe in a hand up, not a hand out.  I believe a free market that is protected from monopolies and regulated for the common good (not over-regulated so as to stifle competition with bills written by corps who want to ensure their market domination) is the best economic system, and provides the most opportunity and innovation.  I believe taxes are essential for basic infrastructure and services, but also very poorly handled by runaway spending and institutionalized greed.

I like using movies/tv to illustrate my political views, sorry if this list scares you:

V For Vendetta

Fight Club

Return of the Jedi

Star Trek

I both hate and am obsessed with politics.  A better world is possible.  A better future is obtainable.  The only thing standing in our way is human nature.

 https://apps.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-10-201A1_Rcd.pdf

that's what they said...not what is written.(well at first but once you get to the rules themselves about midway...) Behind all the legal mumbo jumbo is the FCC's now has the ability to license content. Like business sites etc...I am in IT so I took a personal interest in this one.

Devils in the details my friend....now a packet is a legal or illegal packet.

I read the whole health care bill too...and Sarah Palin is right about Health care Committees (death panels) There is some scary stuff about implanted chips etc...Mostly lil sneaky taxes, and lil "funds" for friends....whatever it is it isn't about insuring ppl out of the goodness of their hearts....and its not free health care...no such thing as free
