Give All Alpha And Beta Testers 6 Character Slots.

Subject says it all (only for alpha/beta), plus give them the ability to train all 6 at once, more character slots = more testing of archetypes = more bug squashing. Just an idea.

They're not even sure yet if they're giving people with VIP and extra slots to have them all active for passive training yet.

 

Guess this is a good way to find out.

They should just accelerate passive skill training for alpha & beta. If it takes 6 months to max out a character, hard to get a valid test of endgame abilities in a 2 month alpha...

Definitely will need some accelerators in there.  Not sure if all slots are needed....but, I can see how it would help.  I'm sure there will be plenty of wipes though, so it may not be necessary.

There are already over 3300 Alpha testers alone. All Alpha testers have 3 or more additional character slots as part of there pledge reward.

Your demanding that a person pledging $30 be given the same reward as someone pledging over $250.

 

There is no need for accelerated training. There will be more than enough time between Alpha1 and release to see plenty of maxed characters at the official game launch.

-Just look at every other early access MMO released in the past 5 years.

Don't see the problem with anyone in the alpha or beta to have the same benefits as those who backed higher. As long as in release its sorted.

 

Plus it would be a push to make those players purchase the rest of what can be possible be bought from the cash shop to bring them closer to backer level.

 

Not saying this as I'm in the lower band but because I'd rather things be tested by as many people possible so I can have a chance at a smoother game on release.

Another option...

 

The developers can simply allow us to advance our characters by giving us more skill points to assign our characters whenever they want during an alpha/beta testing phase.  Just because a new testing phase is going to occur does not mean every character will have to be started over from scratch.

What?  Alpha isn't early access.  I'd be shocked and annoyed if there wasn't a wipe at the end of beta, it would be an incredible pay2win aspect.  I'd also be shocked if there wasn't a wipe after each alpha.

Well sure, if the skills are static and never change from alpha 1 until release, they might do that.  But if they decide to rework the skills, there will have to be wipes, otherwise you could end up with a character with skills that that archetype isn't supposed to have, and other broken stuff.  They also might want to see players in testing act on equal ground, which it absolutely won't be if you have 3 month old alpha 1 characters playing in the same game as 1 week old alpha 2 characters, for example.  I think wipes are more likely.

They could wipe skillsets as well like most other MMO's that make major changes have done.  I mean this would probably be the same to implementing a wipe though.  I was just throwing up another method that they could advance character training without having to open up a bunch of character slots for everyone.

 

Not that I don't want extra character slots.  I do.  I want to test it all.  ALL OF IT!! ;)

At the very least they will increase skill gains for testing purposes. They aren't idiots...

Truthfully, I can understand the value in this. For beta testing purposes, you will want people to test out as many archetypes as possible to test the fairness, make sure one archetype isn't too OP. I might also speed up passive training in the interest of time. For about a year and a half of testing, I don't think they can wait 3 months to test some perks.

Passive leveling is not what the devs are looking for.

They need data to analyze from people playing the game normally and leveling through the content, not from passively leveling up.

During the Open Beta or Live, they could do like other games, and make you pay monthly to allow an additional character to level up passively.
