Eternal Kingdoms! Kickstarter Update 19

Recommended Posts

If caravans are supposed to go from campaign to the EK, how are we going to ambush them if the EK is private?

Pretty sure they meant within your EK. You won't be using Caravans to go from Campaign to EK.  Only way to get stuff off of a Campaign is from rewards and Embargo Vaults.

I really really like this but I do have one big problem and that is collaborating with guildmates on a single EK.  What would really make me go all Sapphire and Ruby would be a mechanic whereby players could voluntarily combine their EK cells into one.  Right now it appears that to get a guild central EK going it will take "a combination of time and raw materials (stone, iron and wood) to add cells (raw square footage) to your Kingdom" which means a lot of unorganized sprawl as everyone is messing with their own EK's in the meantime.  Let me add my 3 X 3 or w/e you decide cells to the guild EK and then my parcels on that.

Please sirs I beg of you

You ambush them in the campaigns. People have to use Caravans to get stuff around in the campaigns, which is where you will get your resources and Materials to build stuff in the EK.

The Caravans will really have no impact in the EK's. Think of them as a pack mule when you are in a campaign gathering resources. they expand your backpack and allow you to carry more stuff. You will then have to get your caravan to a spot in your campaign so you can build in campaign. You then store your resources in an embargo until the campaign is over, then they transfer to your EK.

Caravans do not leave the EK, what goes to the EK if from your embargo

you mean they don't leave the campaign? if so, that makes a lot of sense

this reminds me of a jaden smith tweet

read up on some stuff, this is not how it works buddy ;)

I did read but it wasn't clear to me how caravans would work.

I like the idea of Parcels. By turning them into an item, you can give em away as rewards, or pool them within a guild, or trade em. Allowing them as rewards like this is a great idea, because the devs could theoretically let you 'keep' some of a campaign world. Built a particularly awesome guild castle in a campaign, that actually managed to survive intact? What better trophy than being able to pick up that castle and drop it into your guild's Eternal Kingdom. It'd stand as a monument to everything that happened in that campaign.

This update has done nothing to quell my displeasure with the direction of the EK.

In fact, it just reinforces what a missed opportunity the entire thing is.

If expanding Cells only costs Time & Raw resources, and you can give other people the ability to drop parcels in your cells, then they've already added the ability to pool everything other than time. (And even that would be easy if they made Cell expansion something that multiple people could contribute to).

Guildleader creates Guild EK

Guild EK gets expanded through collaborative effort

Guildleader assigns Provinces to members, making them Nobles

Nobles place their own Parcels (That they won themselves, or earned from Kickstarter Rewards) in the Guild World

Poof, Guild World

They'd probably need to allow a way for Nobles to take their own Parcels back, but it's basically there.

Since they specifically mentioned them in reference to EK's I can see them being used to move raw mats from the embargo vault to a crafting station and then from there to a NPC vendor.

That was my thought also. They will have use in EK's, but their real use is as an invetory expansion while gathering in Campaigns  so you can haul more to the embargo.

That is where it will be fun in PVP action.

Well, I guess you could look at it like that but, they aren't gonna have anything in their EK if they don't go get the mats and resources needed to build it up in the Campaigns

Maybe it not about the happy ending. Maybe it's about the story.

So, are those of us in the gemstone pledge range not going to have enough cells to put all our free parcels/castles on?   We start with 9 cells, right? They said the Mountain Stronghold takes up 7 cells. Of course that's way up in Diamond territory, and I'm sure my small Castle will take up less than that.  But still, my small castle and 10 parcels can't all fit in just 9 cells.

Not that this upsets me. I'm just seeking clarity.

Edit: Never mind. Reading Fail.

It's in the update:

When I add a cell, what is it filled with?

...

Note: our Kickstarter backers who receive tax-free parcels with a pledge will automatically receive enough unlocked cells to place those parcels.

I just figured it out. I know what they're going to sell us.

Think about it. Star Citizen got it's money by selling ships, right? But we can't sell ships, because nobody wants the first campaigns to be p2w. But what they *can* sell us is land for our EKs. If Parcels are the only way to place landmass in your EK, and Parcels are made up of existing structures and terrain, then Artcraft can start making interesting Parcels *now* (Which they'd need to do anyway), and sell them to us as the game is being developed for big fat stacks of cash.

Those glorious bastards, it just might work.
