Hi.

Foxes, Elementals, and Other Things. (New Racial Archetypes Discussion)

Recommended Posts

Maybe a Guinecean robot experiment or something, they were created by the Guineceans to help defend. It's lore relevant considering the Guineceans are the most technologically advanced in the game so far.

I'm sorry but... I want cat people... Like the Firran in Archeage.

Werewolf disciplines already appear to be planned, i think canine races would be redundant. I sincerely hope they avoid any more zoomorphic archetypes and either add more archetypes for a few existing races, or go with stuff that's a little more unique, like Naga, Gargoyles, or straight sentient animals that aren't humanoid.

Yiff.

I was wondering who bumped my thread. <3

Just for you, a wolf.

SUPPORT

The Scouts report the enemy is moving again. They think they're preparing to strike.

Blast it, tonight of all nights. Half the pack is holed up in the Great Hall to celebrate the birth. The first since summer.

He shakes his head, sighing.

Very well. I suppose tonight we celebrate life, with death.

You, go tell the elders that there's war. The rest of you, with me.

Grunting, he drops to all fours, leaping off into the forest. The rest of the pack did not wait long, bounding down the hill behind him.

I played a Wolf Dread Knight in Vanguard: Saga of Heros. I made all my own gear and was one of the best PvE tanks because I took all that extra time to skill up my Armor Crafting. Before the gold sellers crashed the market I could over-charge for my stuff because it was the server's finest. ;3

Elephants, crocodiles, stuff I could get behind, but foxes or cats would be stepping into the Furry territory which I definitely do not think Artcraft is going for. The only reason we are getting Guinicians and Elken is because they wanted some lightheartedness to the universe while not overdoing the kiddie, everyone is an animal design. Besides those two, all other "animal" archetypes are traditional MMO stuff (Minotaur, Centaur, etc.) so it's nothing new.

Ya think maybe we are getting Guineceans and Elkens are that because they have "close" relatives in "another" game that one of the devs may have had something to do with?  :)

Maybe it not about the happy ending. Maybe it's about the story.

Elementals would be very cool... Maybe something a little bit different in your base class your just kind of a glowy humanoid figure of elemental energy then based on your promotion class would determine the element you became...

Ranged Magic DPS - Fire

Tank or Support - Earth

Specialist or Ranged Phys - Air

Save Water for the Naval combat expansion and because ya know Frostweavers... but maybe with that in mind Earth is Tank and Water is support :D

Erm... What about the Elken hunter god eating someone's heart makes you think they were adding them for "lightheartedness"?

Still a moose... lol (I know it's a "deer"). But that's the point, their design choice is to make the game for a mature audience, while also getting away with a cartoony design and overall, the design they choose allows for better gameplay and not eating up graphics cards. As for Ellie's comment...

Yes, it is obviously a knod at Wizard101 probably. As much as the staff at Artcraft likes more traditional MMO/medieval design, people like Dave Greco and J Todd Coleman spent years developing anthropomorphic NPCs so naturally this design choice probably has a soft spot. They might want innovation, but if you'll notice, Crowfall still is basing the game off of what they already made (Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, and yes, Wizard101 and Pirate101) so naturally, I'd assume we will get some similarities. We already have them with the music, concept style and quite possibly guild banner creator (99% sure it will be based off the Pirate101 flag designer).

I honestly think that we have enough mid - low fantasy races and those high fantasy, no body races just bring down the theme. What would be good to avoid is to make promotions or archetypes to similar (Kobald and Duelist because of the digging for example). Sounding fanboyish here but I think we are gucci so far, need to get more information to make concrete wishes.

But... Your profile pic is a fox warrior...Or is that a red panda  :D ? No but seriously Im pretty good with what we have now... Although the more I think about it I REALLY like the elemental being archetype idea where the promo class determines the element...

Depends I guess how much based off of because that is the poorest excuse for a "flag designer" that I have ever seen.  An 8 y.o. can use it. Many of them.   People will be screaming for their money back, I guarantee it.

I think it would be better for us to delve into other archtypes that aren't already in the game, and find the best race to fit those.

If we had a Fox race, I could see them as a Rune Master style gameplay. Magic traps. Inscribing runes into the ground or walls that push, pull, detonate, create FoxFires that shoot flame bolts like a turret for a few seconds or bind in place if hit. Create empowering runes for their allies to hold their weapons over for a temporary enchant. Cast on the doors to a keep to give it the strength of stone. Draw a line in the ground that can't be crossed.   An ultimate utility caster.
