I was never in Shadowbane beta, so this website is interesting to me. Especially since the time that website was made was around the time I was learning web design. This definitely fits the geocities/angelfire era, lol.

Some interesting looks back:

Archprelates - calling upon the strength of their faith to bless and to heal.
• Summoners - bringing mighty creatures into being with the sound of their voice.
• Witches - women with the power to curse, control the winds and the weather.

Sorcerers - who fashion magical charms, and artifacts of wonderous power.

And can't find the description now, but it said something about warlocks being able to break walls with their mind lol

And my absolute favorite, the beta request emails:

Complete with their responses and a girl willing to sleep with one of them for a beta invite.

Always interesting watching how a project once started out.

Too bad the days of beta sites are long behind us.

A solid quote, I'd say.

Question: What are the system requirements?

PC's

• Windows 95/98/NT 4.0

• Intel Pentium 200+ Mhz or equivalent

• Hardware Accelerated 3D video card(supporting OpenGL) - 6MB or better

• 32 MB RAM

• CD-ROM

• Lots of Hard drive space

• Internet Connection (TCP/IP - 28.8Kbps+)

Woooooooow. Sometimes I forget about our friend Moore.

Yeah, I remember when I had the worst PC among my friends in 1999 and it had 333 Ghz. I would get owned so hard by other PC's playing counterstrike on the barracks ghetto-LAN that I just ran around with the crowbar.

If those requirements persisted, I could 10 box no problem.

Having a 333Ghz processor in 1999 is pretty impressive, I assume you worked with some weather calculation super computer or something. My work computer is only a 4 Ghz now (although it is 4 core so maybe you could argue 16 Ghz.

I assumed he meant MHz.  Either way the 660MHz FSB was the worst part of that product line and on it's way out the door in 1999.

60MHz*

It may have been a roundabout way of mentioning he had a typo.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention headlight! I've showed it to a couple of my old guildies who were well interested in it (we all joined at launch so anything beta is from outside our experience). It's kinda cool to see just how much it evolved.

Starting to feel old looking at the computer minimum requirements.

Had a poorly made socksty gateway that would barely run Final Fantasy VII PC version, crashed after like 80 hours into the game and I never got to beat it. I'd just play ragnarok online or some poorly made socksty k-mmo.

Those shadowbane concept art look interesting, only wish I could get a bigger resolution to pore over the details.

Subject: hello again and again and again

i think a realy cool feture for carnage would be for players to start =

out as monsters and can evolve into stronger and stronger monsters if =

you already have a bunch of monsters made thats okay just put them into =

catagories for instance have the little snake or lizard evolve into the =

giant iguna then the lizard man then the oversized lizard man then the =

baby dragon then the teenage dragon then the adult dragon then the =

MIGHTY OLD GEEZER DRAGON

hehe you get the idea

"Lords: hehe, no."

Early Wolfpack was the best.
