Mogwai - Music For A Forgotten Future

I love post-rock stuff. There's nothing better to have on while doing coursework/revision/etc..

wow I forgot about post-rock for a while. It's generally hard to get into unless you're in the right headspace and mood, so yea that sounds like the perfect time and place to listen to some. I'm sure everyone and their mom knows about GY!BE.

I recommend Yndi Halda if you haven't heard them, and Mono.

I too like threads like this because I listen to darn near anything that isn't bubblegum pop and fusion jazz (bleah, bore me to death).

At this very second I'm listening to Punk Radio station on Pandora. It's bringing me back to high school where we blasted Black Flag and Suicidal Tendencies on cassette tape from my crummy car. The reason for this nostalgia? EDUCATING MY CHILDREN! My daughter said "I like punk! Green Day is cool". I facepalmed hard. She is only allowed to say she likes punk if she approves of this station and all it's old school, self destructive glory.

(ok she's only a seventh grader, so a pass is granted on the lack of knowledge, but still)

Nothing is impossible, but some things are very expensive.

Green Day can be okay, somewhat... at least be thankful she never discovered bands like New Found Glory, ugh. That pop punk of the early 2000s never settled with me. Do you like Bad Brains?

Massive Attack is wicked stuff fam. Especially this track : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpD-yf_vHYA

I forgive the UK for Oasis when they invented triphop outta Bristol.

Anyways, here's Wonderwall: https://youtu.be/85E9Q5Wx210

Also Bloc Party is alright. They did call out Oasis on their poorly made socks too.

btw more post-rock stuff that isn't really "post-rock" in the vein like GY!BE or Sigur Ros, like mùm has some good poorly made socks:

mùm - Yesterday was Dramatic, Today is Okay (full album) -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5A11DKLzgk&list=PLTUlTwlsdlFTwtT5jkaJCEZg-Q9Z8CWkX

Celtic Woman - A Spaceman Came Travelling (Cover)

They're playing at the Gulf Coast Coliseum here soon. Never listened to them but the billboards look cool.

You are so incredibly helpful, CYT. I don't know how I ever managed to do anything before we met. I was just bumbling my way through life, all lost-like. Thank you. My blessing cup runneth over.

Are you going to check them out?

Reminds me of Enya, kinda.

If you like celtic fusion stuff, have you checked out Afro Celt Sound System?

I haven't and I'm going back up to hike on the A.T. in a few days so I'll miss them being here.

I actually loved a lot of Green Day-esque bands. Their sound was pretty good. They've mostly fallen out of my radios though as my taste mellowed.

Mogwai is awesome, post rock is awesome.  Ever listen to Sigur Ros?

Sigur Ros steered me into the genre. I was looking for a track by them and then clicked through some similar artists and then just ended up on a big old binge.

As for beautiful songs:

Sigur Ros - Fjogur Piano (My favourite by them)

Nyctalgia - Lost In Timeless Horizons

And some slightly morose ones:

Lars Erik Fjosne - Bad Medicine

I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - The Owl
