Shadowlands Vs The Dregs?

In the latest news thread, Path to Alpha, JTC seems to describe the Dregs as what we expected the Shadowlands (GvG) band to be, with POI capture points based on guild affiliation rather than faction, and friendly-fire so badly done that no one will want it. So, unless guild affiliation can be toggled off at campaign creation, the original Dregs concept is dead; as is the name, Shadowlands.


I think the K-Mart of MMO's already exists!  And it ain't us!   :)

Dregs = Shadowlands = Shadowbane

The Dregs was always going to have guilds in it.

Seems they have scrapped the multiple world band concept. It's either Faction or Dregs now.

Factions will come in whatever number, strongholds/POIs will be provided, and hopefully resources/rewards will be harder to come by then Dregs.

Dregs will likely have player built strongholds, higher resource availability and higher rewards.

Both can have a lot of differing reward systems. Be it one faction, alliance, guild taking the bulk or all rewards at the end of a campaign. Friendly fire can be flipped on in whatever fashion (faction/alliance/guild/group/no one immune).

If there is enough craving, I see no reason why ACE wouldn't try a 100% FFA with all heals/dps active, 100% loot (not just inventory) and other such things. However combat and the game as a whole likely wouldn't play well with that and it's been fairly obvious for years.

Crowfall combat isn't terrible but not much different then the typical design with everyone on top of one another blasting off whatever, just with a lot more lag. Doesn't seem too friendly to whatever "hardcore" idea some had in mind back in 2015.

Honestly don't know what some believe a full FFA would look like with the design they have, especially without guild mechanics. Gathering, Crafting, Combat as a whole depend on structured team play. If it's just wanting friendly fire, well hopefully they flip the switch for a few campaigns and people show up.
