Stealth Tank?

Recommended Posts

Please tell me that the Myrmidon will have stealth capabilities, because he seems to be my ideal Stealth Tank!

Just imagine a bull hiding behind a tree or in a bush and then charging out, ramming someone with his horns out of nowhere, and then drawing his weapons with a roar and going berserk! That's the type of character I would love to play!

If you check on the myrmidon page on Crowfall website, the bull man has quite the strength and dexterity. It even has one more spirit point than champion so I guess tanking and bashing through hoards of enemies would be a great option. Not so sure idealistic it is to stealth around with big bulky muscles though.

They could be surprisingly quiet in the right environment I suppose.

Since I think their tank abilities will be less about armor, and more about avoidance, sneaky could happen...

In general the monster races have one more stat point preassigned than the humanoid races; this just means that the champ et al. will have more character points free to assign at creation.

Note that the Legionnaire has the same stat allocation as the Myrmidon.

But how many fields of cows will there be in Crowfall?

Right, so less to work with as we effectively HAVE to buy that extra spirit point over the Champion, or instead use one of the limited trait slots for a -Spirit debility.

Lets be realistic, bulls are not stealthy creatures. Minotaurs have always been about raw strength and power. Charge directly into something and smash it through.

Also, check again, minotaurs are mitigation tanks, not evasion tanks as a base.

Smart money says BH will be a discipline as it was in Shadowbane.

Yeah no, this seems unlikely as custard. Bulls are inherently extremely unstealthy and myrmidons are pretty huge and bulky from what we've seen. Not really any stealthy tendencies to be honest.

Stealth Tanks - aggravating targets with not actually fighting them?

I get where you are going here with this, and I have already stated the chances of this happening in CF are likely near zero...however, stealth tanks do serve a role in those games that allow them. Typically they travel with the rogues behind enemy lines and attack first, drawing attention and getting people to look at them, immediately giving the rogues easy targets to pounce upon after that. 1v1? Using stealth to control the flow of combat, the tank chooses the perfect spot to make use of disables and keep you at a disadvantage and just wears you down like a grinding stone.

I enjoy the combat style from time to time. Just don't see any archetype currently in CF that lends itself to becoming that, and I am alright with that.

There could very well be disciplines which grant stealth, which anyone or almost anyone could take.

This would be a mistake of gargantuan proportions. Stealth should be limited to the specialists.

I find the very idea of a Centaur stealthing preposterous.

Is that really tanking though? I mean, I guess it's tanking, but more of an ACTUAL distraction.
