The greybox design currently does not look very compartmentalized...  For example, the courtyard wings to the left and right do not look like there is any way to contain a breach from spilling into the central area.  Typical castle design would have inner gates, or ways to prevent attackers from streaming along the top of one ring of walls on the next.

From a game play perspective, I would like to see a number of battles during the storming of a castle, not just 1) outer wall  2) inner keep door.

Ah...damn...can't watch video at work x(

Also is there something wrong with me? How am I this damn excited about nontextured art?

One thing though. If a keep is this big and is considered to be on the small half of the strongholds how much larger are citadels and palaces going to get!?!

The size seems a bit much, no?  Almost enough so that it will be impossible to defend without very large numbers.

Maybe that's the point? Taking and holding territory is likely key to winning CWs so yeah it should take large numbers to both hold and capture these.

The Castles (next tier up of stronghold) will have the inner and outer walls arranged in concentric rings.  The keep is more of a (giant) military outpost.

The idea of being able to add containment elements dynamically is interesting, though -- remember, our voxelized world allows us to create as well as destroy.  A wall of ice (or fire, for that matter) could be particularly useful in this kind of layout.

You can see the "small" and the "medium" in the video, as well (just no screenshots yet...  we'll have to add some.)

Those may be better options for you, if you are worried about not having enough defenders.

Cool - glad you guys are thinking of these types of things early on.  You know us poor sods who have to defend the real estate will be looking for every trick available!

Depends on how big the campaign map is, how many people are allowed per campaign, and how many of the large strongholds end up on the map.  If there are 1 or 2 of these per map it's probably sufficient.  If there are 30 of these; not so much.

The scale is absolutely massive in comparison to players, I guess they are expecting very large numbers in these sieges. I agree with what you're saying, without a much larger amount of defenders compared to the attackers, having those flank courtyards become a liability, especially if they're able to break through walls using the voxel tech. If the inner walls were stronger than the outer, and are able to be sealed and manned with siege equipment, I can see it as a deterrent to come through the sides. This is just pure theory crafting, but it would make more sense to just have the single area layout regardless of how many defenders you can muster. In previous games you usually have the advantage of the other team being victim to the fatal funnel, but with voxel this is less of a setback for them.

On a side note, Knight animations look great already for prealpha.

People will need to plan their fortifications based on their size, not just try to upgrade to the "top" building option.

This is a good thing!
