Late at night when i cant sleep i think about random poorly made socks, and the idea came to me that keeping an Inn in the quiet times between pvp clashings might be a fun thing to be doing. however i've little knowledge of the economy system ingame, much less irl..is this a good idea? if possible at all..since healers wont be a thing, vitality-regenerating potions and food would be necesary, and thus sold in this inn.. :P

Sorry for my horrible grammar anyways..im europoor so dont shoot me.

+2, 1 for grammar 1 for a good add-on feature for the game. I agree with Adall; as long as it's run by players it shouldn't be a problem. Since trading is present, I assume that there will also be skills related to this feature. I wouldn't bet on it being released with the core-modules though but it could be one of the many add-on features as the game develops.

You could hold poetry slams, and story-telling contests.  Offer prizes.

Text/chat based activities would be the easiest thing to pull off as an innkeeper in game.

Now I want to know if drinking alcohol in game will alter our UI. (blurred or unstable camera, or altered movement keys)

Sorta sounds like it could be a social area, which could be cool just as long as the social aspect didn't over take too much of the game. I wouldn't want this to just be another sit around and talk game.

In a lot of games when someone doesn't have anything to do they are just going to sit and talk with others and the game shouldn't force them to be always doing something if they don't want to. I like this idea for Inns gives as you and EDM have said, it gives a social area where people can talk and trade and I do like the idea about being player ran.

Well of course :P but as i stated above, a place to be when there arent any battles to fight. dont know wether theyre going to implement sleepcycles and health like that but if they are, there would also be beds to sleep in :D

I do agree with what you guys are saying, and I like the idea of inns. I just trying to say that I wouldn't want inn to get so in depth that people would choose to stay at the inn rather than go out and PvP or the other main things the game has to offer.

oh like that..well no of course not :P maybe there could be some kinda "owner button" for closing times or "bed times" that just booted people out the inn or into their rented rooms.

Bear in mind that CF is in very large part a hand of economics. When you're not busy fighting you should probably be busy mining, harvesting, crafting, guarding, escorting, shipping, or otherwise protecting or advancing your side's economic base. There won't be a lot of truly idle time if you're playing effectively.

With that said, I have no problem if my opponents want to hang out in taverns instead.

Actually I was just wondering that now, since CF does or will have a big economics base. If you did choose to run an inn should there be a way to make revenue if people did want to buy things like drinks or a bed?

I can see players running this as a brothel and making some $ in their EK.  They've done quite well RPing along similar lines in SWToR and other MMOs.

Ridiculous!  Who is their right mind would pay $$ to pretend to......................nvm  :(   I see your point.  Big money to be made.

the Cantinas in SWG are a good example of Innkeeping...

Players visited them to get buffs before going into battle and of course to socialize and show off :)

Innkeeping should play a big part in Crowfall as well. This is a major part of the social interraction in the cities and of course it would be a great attraction in the E Kingdoms as well.

From what we know of EK play, it should be very easy to establish them. Player run ones in campaign worlds, on the other hand are a different story.

I would probably, occasionally, enjoy them in a campaign world. I can envision them as an area held by a large and powerful enough guild that can use its reputation and members to enforce a neutral, violence free zone. Occasionally, the peace would be broken, but in general a strong enough guild could keep things from getting out of hand. Opposing factions and independent groups could (usually) safely meet on this neutral ground to parley/brag. I am sure it would also attract the occasional bounty hunter/assassin waiting for you to leave. The guild organizing it could even charge a small resource fee for entry. There are lots of great examples of such places in books and movies. Unfortunately, as fun as it sounds, I do not think they would appear very often, nor last very long. I do not see any hypothetical "large enough guild," having both the desire to organize enough power and, at the same time, lack of interest in using its power to seek its share of domination within the campaign world. Perhaps I am wrong and underestimate the motivations of PvP players. My PvP experiences are limited to EvE and minor flash games, neither of which are really suited to the idea of an inn within a active PvP area. (EvE has its high security areas, enforced by the DEVs, for congregating. I am not aware of any such inns in lowsec. Yes, there are player run stations, but they are not quite the same thing as what these Inns we are discussing would be.)

I do not think you could sell drinks very often...however you could probably sell the idea that players are "renting" time in a building/area being boosted by relics/artifacts/statues, the services of certain support archetypes, and the idea of a neutral 3rd party of bouncers who serve to ensure a "neutral" ground for players, guilds, and factions who do not trust each other enough to meet elsewhere.

From what I read/heard/know healers will be a thing. They never said there will be no healer at all, only that there won't be our typical firehose healer with massive amounts of health regen via one spell. So it's safe to think, that the healing we will be able to do is far minor, but yet still relevant.

As for the Tavern I love the Idea behind these, you could give the Tavern once build a in-game crafting station like a cooking pot to use for crafting food and drinks, as vitality regenerating items. As well only let it be usable by the owner or those allowed by the owner.

This would mean that only those running the tavern can sell the goods to the guests. Instead of the guests storming the Tavern kitchen and cooking the advanced food themself.

But that would only be a thought, who knows what they will do. But +1 from me to your Tavern idea! I like Taverns :)
