My 2 Cents on Crafting System

Recommended Posts

IMO I would like to see a system somewhere inbetween FFXIV:ARR crafting and GW2 crafting.  I like the variance and skills in FFXIV to make high quality items.  I also like the discovery possible in GW2, the only problem with the GW2 is that there is the internet and so it is just a matter of looking up the recipe.

A couple of posts of mine about crafting, mostly WoW related but mentioning for context.

The team making the crafting includes Koster - the fellow that created SWG crafting.  The reason I came to Crowfall and stuck around (omg PvP centric! ack!) was because SWG crafting was amazing amd I've not found a system like it since.  It was nothing like FFX or GW2 crafting.  SWG was resource driven and incredibly intricate.

Step 1 Disclaimer:  There is very little specific info about the crafting system in Crowfall.  We have few details and even fewer defined processes.

A look at the crafting FAQ's would be a good place for you to get more of a feel for the direction they're heading:

Here's a rough description of the crafting process in SWG:

Here are a few threads about crafting and various points of view folks have about what they want:

It's a very different approach then you'd find in other MMO's.  Very little about the economy is pre-structured and there are no NPC's selling gear etc. Whatever is in the mix is what players create and put there.

It's going to be so much fun.

It may have similarities to SWG crafting but, I believe, I read somewhere they had severe data base issues with the random unique recipes/items.  So, I do not expect something as detailed and indepth as SWG crafting.
