Many moons have passed since we originally began our love affair with MMORPGs.

Old school Ultima Online is where many in ST began their MMO journey. In 1997 we came together and have made appearances in most major MMOs along the way, often times changing the face of whatever server we played. Never in sheer force, or number ...but in guile, efficient slaughter, and knee-deep politicking. Even today it is unknown by most the things that went on behind the scenes in past games. Entire server wars began ....and ended, at the feet of the Sinister Tyrants. Simply dominant super-zergs dissipated by a simple seed planted here, and planted there.. set to bloom when the time was ripe. Friends and brothers at each others throats, accusatory looks cast this way and that, trust shattered, paranoia pervading everyone and everything.

Always the anti-zerg, unyielding in the face of greater numbers, and unflinching in the face of death. We are pushing for around 30 active members, men & women ...to dive into the fray and shake up the world of Crowfall with us. We might not ever get the credit, but we'll always have the satisfaction of knowing the events that we help to foster!

Mature folks, with chill personalities are a MUST! We're a family here, and we run on a certain relaxed vibe, so we can't have that broken up by little leet kids, or people with unbearable personality disorders. We value intelligence and common sense. (a good sense of humor is nice too) Also, while we won't rage/quit or cry like little girls if we lose ...we enjoy winning, and we do most of the time. We want winners on our team, though we are not elitists and welcome all skill levels we do need people with the right attitude. (a positive one!) Many a day in the annals of our past, one would look out the window of our keep or guild house, only to see it surrounded by throngs of people out for blood ....our blood. It was like a breath of fresh air. And I must say it gave us pleasure dancing around the corpses of the slain. Donning their garments in hopes that their spirit might see our mockery.

Ahhh, to have that feeling once more .....we hope to find it again here, in Crowfall.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We no longer require applications. Your application will be in the form of you getting in Teamspeak and hanging out. If you are a relaxed, nice person, who can take direction when needed ....you will likely stick. If your personality doesn't suit what we are looking for, we will go our separate ways. We are an adult guild, although we make rare exceptions for those members who have children.  We will likely set up a PG channel in Teamspeak if the need arises, as many of us have the mouths of sailors.

Newbs welcome. We love all styles of play, from PVP/PKers to Crafters, to PVE.  We intend to experience all facets of the game.  Please reply here if interested, PM me for Teamspeak info, or apply on our forums if you feel the need.  We look forward to adding to the family.

Also, any who are interested in leading ...in all new games we start with our core, and build from there.  Those interested in taking up a leadership mantle, please let us know ...good, willing leaders are hard to come by.

I should also mention a handful of us are playing Ark on Steam currently as well as some other titles.

Albion Online will likely take up at least some of our time between now and Crowfall launch, and we are gearing up for that game currently.

Looking forward to seeing old allies and enemies in game!

Just curious, how many Sinister Tyrants are currently CrowFall backers?  Approx. 30 active members would seem to limit most solid play to a specific time zone, so are you limiting your player base to a specific geographic area?

A handful of backers now.  Most will wait until alpha or beta to cough up the money.

30 actives means to us 30 players who you will likely see on Teamspeak and playing the game several times a week.  It might take 50+ members to get that.   We will see.

As far as geography ...all over the U.S. and Canada, with a smattering of players from Australia and Europe.  I would say most active time period is 8pm- 4am EST.

Hey Pariah, is good to see Sinister Tyrants in Crowfall!

Can I ask what is your view/definition of "the zerg" please?

I am only asking because to my experience anything over 20 is usually called "a zerg" and you are already facing the possibility to field 50 people on an, very unlikely, 99% activity rate for an event. Or is just the "image" game... :P

Or another question that comes to mind: How big it's a zerg in your view if 30-50 people are just "a splinter in the eye" ?

/cheers

It really depends on the game and the competition prom.   We like to consist of the fewest members possible that will still allow us to experience all facets of the game.

If the game caters to the zerg, usually the only ways to compete are to either grow yourself, destroy the enemy from within, play the political game, and/or form an alliance.   The political game could be played in a myriad of ways of course.

We tend to prefer to stay solo as long as possible and destroy the enemy from within, but there are instances that you do what you have to in order to survive.  This is when alliances, and especially some really deep political weavings have come into play for us.

If we had 30 active, you realize of course it would be rare to have all 30 on at the same time.  There might be some times during the weekend or during a guild event that you could achieve those numbers and be almost zerg like ....but it would be fleeting.

Again, we adjust #'s depending on game mechanics and the need to survive.  Often times the role of politics plays a huge factor.   As an extremely small guild by Darkfall standards, we managed to stay on top of two holdings for a year+ due to the enemy not knowing who we were aligned with and what might befall them if they opposed us.  The fear of the unknown if you will.  (as well as the fear of getting their arses kicked in by a smaller guild)

  • 1 year later...

We're still here.

What a bleak gaming landscape we have been dealing with of late.  Oh, the boredom.

Will be rallying the troops soon for Crowfall.  Hopefully it is worth the effort.

So ...Albion Online was bad.

May make a decent effort towards Legends of Aria.

Still waiting on Crowfall.
