I want to give you more money ACE ...

Recommended Posts

But, Im not going to shell out hundreds of dollars more for something that may not even happen.  Even if/when the game is made, maybe I dont like it.  Maybe the combat system is horribad.  Maybe the end game is stale and the promises made when you took my money are unfulfilled.

You know ... kind of like in Shadowbane.  I was promised being able to fight over multiple servers and the game being able to handle mass battles.  What happened instead was one server and the mass battles became super lag fest where you couldnt do anything.

ACE, you have already got hundreds of dollars from me, just on the nostalgia of SB.  I enjoyed playing that game.  However there was a disconnect between what was promised and what happened.  Just recently with Mech Warrior Online and Warhammer 40k : Eternal Crusade I feel slightly burned with companies promising more than they can deliver.

As I sit here with my Gold KS package and contemplate upgrading to Amber and picking up another Amber package on layaway I just dont see it.

This thread is about fear.   We all have them.   Last I checked no assurances were being handed out.

Maybe it not about the happy ending. Maybe it's about the story.

Backing a game in early development always is a leap of faith.  The only thing you can take consolation in is the capabilities of the team and the vision for the game they've outlined.  If that doesn't help, probably best to just not put any more money into it.

That being said, what was the response you expected to get here?

"Zolaz, we really appreciate your concern and will do our best to make the game we promised."?

Yep this.

I would also suggest that some perhaps take a break and come back after the first few Alphas even the Betas. Like the analogy GW used about sausage making. We like to eat it but might not be a good idea to watch it being made.

I couldn't agree with Valor more. Instead of contemplating and contradicting your own desire, if you are at the state where you want to offer more but not sure about the vision you are throwing your bet on, just hold on to you KS gold. If the game end up a disaster, be glad of your decision that you didn't throw in more money. If it end of being successful, you can't blame anyone for not upgrading your package.

We are all grown ups here. You probably backed the Gold for a reason. You already paid the money. What good comes out of complaining now? If ACE is going to comfort your indecisiveness, the community would be a disaster. Have faith in ACE and that's all we can do. You made that leap of faith in KS, so just keep at it.

Honestly if you didn't shell out the money to just have a flashy badge you're already ForumFalling wrong.

You are so incredibly helpful, CYT. I don't know how I ever managed to do anything before we met. I was just bumbling my way through life, all lost-like. Thank you. My blessing cup runneth over.

Mod! I need a mod! EDM is insulting me by calling me a grown-up! How dare you good sir slander me so.

Btw if you have this much doubt I'd taken Todd's advice. "don't pledge and just wait."

Honestly Gold is a solid choice. I'm only upgrading to Sapphire because I'm insane lol

Actually I think the Contributer, Gold and Sapphire levels have the best value for price.

I put the money out there. Partly because I want what they're offering at the discount they're offering, but also because on a gut level, I want what they're offering and its the only opportunity I've seen for me to get the ball rolling towards what I want directly.

Roll the dice or don't, but if you do, don't say you got played. You know the odds, and so do I, never going to give you up, never going to let you down...

I have been mulling over upgrading or not as well.  I think that part of the issue is that right now this whole "back Crowfall!" thing feels like a bit of a tightrope walk.  Not much there but gotta keep moving forward.

It does feel like a lot of push to invest more right now but in some other thread Tyrant mentioned that they're bringing up the KS upgrade option so often because of the deadline approaching.  They're erring on the side of making sure everyone gets that the KS options are ending at the end of this month.

Hang in there and just stick with what you're comfortable investing/what won't devastate you if you lose it.

I like to think that CF will be made and flourish but I, like everyone else, have no guarantees.

It's like going to the casinos when you pre-order or help crowdfund a game. Don't spend out of your budget, and don't drop enough down that you're going to be angry at a total bust. This team is as good of a bet as it's going to get, not some run of the mill 7-2 offsuits.

When blind faith is all you have, you must trust your gut instinct, you can either take the easy way out and never back projects, never pre-order.  Or you could risk your money, have faith and depending at the end of the day you either get to enjoy the spoils or live with the consequences.

It is ultimately up to you, if you have doubts or second thoughts, then maybe you are not as committed to something as you might of thought you were.

Investors take a risk when they back a project ...

Gamblers take a risk when they place a bet or turn the crank ...

Warriors take a risk when they march into battle ...

You risk your life every day when you hop into your car, get on a plane, get in a train or walk across a road.

Life is full of risks, both financial and physical, we are born and we die.

Enjoying life is to embrace the risk and live it to the fullest extent, fear is what prevents us achieving things, fear is the enemy that drives us to hide under a rock and accomplish nothing.

With all that said, pretty sure recently a law was passed in the United States where if a kickstarter project's funding fails to be put towards what you backed, then the person who conducted the project is responsible for returning your money to you.  So far, everything I've seen shows their using the money for it's intended purpose.

So if the game is good or sucks, it comes purely down to your own personal commitment to your faith in the project, to be honest just the idea of this game and the presentation of early prototype footage was enough to get me on board, does this make me a fool for doing so?  Who damn knows!  I don't care!

I personally think the best value is with KS Amber, 6 years of VIP is worth more than the sapphire for example :)

But in my opinion all levels have a good balance.

Nope, one of the reasons I went to Gold was to get into Alpha 2.  I want to have all the cheese classes played and ready when it releases.  I want to be rolling people and mixing it up.  I want to have my alliances made and be ready to "Play to Crush".  This aint my first rodeo.

I was a member of Covenant of Swords on Treachery and looking forward to Shadow Bane style game play and politics.  What is better than seeing a bunch of little skulls on sticks with a burning tree in the background?  I can probably do that with a $36 package and who knows how long people will stay with this game.  Most PvP games dont really run for 5 years, I know I havent played one for 5 years.  After all your enemies are gone all you are left with is playing Barbie Fun House in your EK.  Hopefully, there will be plenty of people to farm every night.

You are missing the point of a Kickstarter project. You pay upfront for something that you like the idea of, and want to see succeed. You have already pledged what you thought was worth "gambling on" for this game, the team, and the ideas behind it. I am not sure what the point of the post is, doom and gloom before it even begins? It is like going to a Black Jack table and saying, "I am only going to bet more if I am guaranteed to win." That isn't how it works.

A small piece of info that you might find valuable.  You might not play for 5 years, but you can sell off your VIP tokens if you get bored with the game, or whatnot.  The value is there to upgrade to amber at least.
