Who gets to loot?

Multiple people are killing a target.   Does the person who did the most damage get the loot, the person who gets the kill shot, or is it based on a percentage of damage dealt is the percentage of loot you get?

I certainly get to loot. Jah might get some loot. Did you want some loot? Go earn your loot!

 

Preferably loot is open to anyone. If they take it from you, kill them back. Loot won't be that precious that loot theiving will be a huge issue.

I don't think the devs have said anything about this yet, but I hope it is the person/group that does the most damage to said target and after so long it becomes lootable for anyone. So if you saw a group of players kill a boss and you come in late and don't get the most dps on it, but kill wipe them and wait for the loot timer to pass you could loot it.

Hopefully the person who grabs the loot first gets it.

Which to me always seems a bit skewed towards melee players. But also would agree that some sort of rolling, priority system has its own faults as well.  

 

Also not everyone is going to be playing on the same rulesets so just saying it'll work itself out because you can just kill the ninja looter isn't a catch all solution.

It isn't skewed at all if everyone gets a duplicate of the loot. Everyone participated so everyone should get a reward. It will only strengthen the community we have. I really don't think the guy that died should lose his loot either, maybe make it broken so an awesome crafter can repair!

Have you ever thought about talking to the "target" first? They would probably be friendly and happy to share their wealth with you. Violence should never be the first choice.

This is a really good suggestion, I'm really jealous I didn't think of it first. This is why I'm so glad we have this community. Violence should never be the answer!

I think this post was done in very bad taste and could trigger someone who has experienced something traumatic like this in their life. Jihan egging you on really doesn't help either. You two should be very ashamed. This forum is no place for this kind of talk.

I think it should take on a survival game feel where whoever can secure the spot and loot it gets the loot... chances are you are working in a coordinated group where you can decide where the loot goes, or if you are somehow in a disorganized atmosphere and don't like the other guy looting, then just kill him then you can loot.

This is a very bad idea, I don't like this. I really hope the game doesn't turn out to be like that. We should be helping each other out, not stabbing eachother in the back. Posts like these are what makes the community so toxic, I really hope you start making good positive posts to atone for all your bad ones mister.

It also depends on the ruleset which is applied to the campaign you are playing atm. On the dreggs I support the concept of vikingnail. The other rules will have to applied differently.

Killing a target? As in another player? UO had free-for-all looting. Works perfectly here. If me and my group can't agree how this works then I need to find a different group to play with.

 

If you are talking about a monster then...UO had free-for-all looting. This works really well here again for two reasons 1) monster wont drop the best gear so spawn camping for the Uber sword of Taint Destruction isn't an issue & 2) my group can work this out among ourselves because we all have the same objective of winning the CW.

Leave it up to the players. Make it anyone can loot and if there is a ninja dude just kill him. I find sandboxes work best if code just makes the world and a few rules then let the players make the game.

Then let the fun begin! Whomever wins gets to loot the dead :D

 

I mean CWs are all about saber rattling, bluffing, or straight up war! In the end I want me and my side to win just as much as you and your people. Think about hiding in the tree line with your team of 5 as two groups of 15 people each start fighting over a monster spawn that will give them a needed resource for an upcoming siege? They eventually engage one another and its a bloody mess with the wining side weakened to the point of only 4 players left. Your team jumps out and ambushes those licking their wounds, kill them then loots EVERYONE. Afterwards you kill the monster ask get the special resource for your side.

 

That is some good emergent game play :)

Honestly it really should just be free-for-all loot, whoever can get it the fastest gets the loot.

 

Everyone participated so everyone should get a reward.

 

This will ruin the game.

 

 

I really don't think the guy that died should lose his loot either, maybe make it broken so an awesome crafter can repair!

 

This will kill it.

 

The smallest of arguments could be made towards 'instanced' loot but in a hardcore PvP game like this, it isn't a very strong one and the cons easily outweigh the pros. As for the defeated not losing their loot.. answer me this. If this is implemented; what is the point of inventory loot beyond the other player essentially being a smarter mob? It's already been made clear that only inventory will be lootable, not equipped gear. Said gear will only degrade in durability, later to be repaired by a crafter at the cost of a loss of it's overall durability.

 

Inventory is the stuff you keep in your bags, like the ore you just mined or the feathers you just plucked from the still warm body of that innocent chicken, it's blood dripping from your hands and teeth after you savagely ripped open it's throat like a rabid animal. You get my point and I think it needs to be remembered because honestly it seems the whole mixing of the two is what is causing a lot of confusion.

 

Edit: I will point out, however, that on certain rulesets it seems that even equipped gear will be lootable or have a percentage chance to be so when you die. Something to also bare in mind.
