The hardcore mentality is, "do your worst, i'll chew it up spit it out and own you".  The hardcore mentality is not "omg he said naughty words like a 12 year old on xbox live, that is too much for me".

Who is saying it is too much for them? Just because you discourage something doesn't mean you can't handle it...

It is too much for them... you can read warcrimes posts here... it's pretty obvious.

His logic isn't much different than pvers who convince themselves that pvpers are all just a bunch of unhappy people that only want to grief others.

You are always trying way to hard to argue a points that don't exist in reality. You would make for an excellent psychology study!

This a major tangent...

Those gosh darned kids and their mean words!

Come on ya'll, ya'll have to admit that is pretty damn funny, even if it came from VN.

I had no clue there was a filter tbh

Maybe it not about the happy ending. Maybe it's about the story.

The language filter exists in reality... this new forum being marketed as a place for hardcore discussion exists in reality... Warcrimes stereotyping people who appreciate free speech exists in reality...

Someday when you grow up and form your own world views you'll find out freedom of speech =/= Freedom from responsibility of your speech. Wanting to say racist crap and be a bigot doesn't make you a free speech lover or hardcore or w/e other label you want to use.

That isn't what is being discussed here...

The point is you should not market yourself as some sorta hardcore gaming discussion forum (really just a place to be selectively toxic) when you are worried about language.

If someone thinks they should be allowed to cuss and insult "carebears" without being punished, because it helps breed a "hardcore" environment... then it becomes hypocritical when they turn around and censor language themselves.

I myself appreciate free speech, that is why the irc functions the way it does, because it is run by people who appreciate free speech, outside of illegal activity (laws are laws) I don't care what someone says, it isn't going to phase me, because I have thick skin, I am not sensitive to such things and I understand the value of people like that and those characteristics and how they can translate into games.

Again, there is no language filter on curse words, only a few racist ones, and as adall said we have yet to edit out anyone that has bypassed it. There is always a line for freedom of speech regardless of where you go. If a filtered racist word is the first wall, what's next? Personal information? Hacking Engines/Programs for Crowfall? Selling Illegal items? Illegal Pornography?  To someone out there that could be considered freedom of speech, and it will still not be housed on our forums.  Are those activities granted on your IRC to make you feel hardcore as well?

Every community draws their own lines... I'm just saying yours aren't very hardcore...  There are much more hardcore communities out there that don't get offended by words...

If you feel it is ok to talk trash, insult people, swear at them, etc, and then make fun of them for how they react to such behavior, calling them carebears and such,  and then draw the line at certain words.. that's just hypocritical to me.  It's just selective toxicity... you want to be allowed to be toxic up to your comfort zone, and many of you wanted to push your own ideals onto people on the official forums... but anything that is too hardcore for your comfort zone is SOOO wrong apparently.

The IRC allows anything that isn't illegal.

The site has had very good load speeds for me, from multiple platforms and vpn locations I've tested it from. If there is an issue send me a PM or put it in the bugs forum there so I can have it addressed, as others might be having the same issue. We should not be running into speed issues unless we hit around 250-300 concurrently and we are not even scraping the surface of that.

I'm having wicked rendering issues on Chrome in Windows 10 though.

It's probably my fault

Chrome

Well there's your problem right there.

Joking aside, I've had a few people try it on Chrome and I've tried it on Chrome/W10 with no issues. You're probably right, it's something on your end. If it doesn't get resolved and it looks like a web-issue let me know.
