mailliwchess 10 Share Posted September 2, 2015 I really love playing necromancers when I can in other MMO's, and I think it would be an interesting addition to the current grouping of archtypes currently available. Urahara 1,416 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) mhmhmhm I think the combat type ACE wants to go with Crowfall is a very active one, from what I understood. So a necromancer class potentially wouldnt fit into that too well. But that doesnt mean anything, I am neutral to that at this point of time. xen0byte 58 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I would absolutely love to work on a Necromancer character!!! (sidenote: my favorite class in Diablo 2)I would want to make a necro class that can of course raise dead - skeletons, zombies, liches...etc. - but for for me...I would want shear visceral soul rending action combat Necro. Someone who has traveled and explored the lay-lines of life and death - intimately. I would love for him to have a ripping/tearing blood-sacrifice action element feel to him. His basic attack could be an minor death coil/withering attack and maybe every "N"th it attack could drain/transfer health. He could drain life through aura's and direct abilities (indirect/sustain), spear/claw enemies with razor sharp bone spells/mutations (caster/direct/assassin), explode/siphon corpses, and spread death and disease (support/specialist), rip and rend souls (support/specialist/assassin), and as a back up have a small but deadly set of dagger/claw ripping/branding/cursing/soul-slaving abilities for last line of defense melee (assassin). Oh and for escape, he could occasionally move demonically fast (think soul projection like Lord Marshal from Chronicles of: Riddick), OR!!!! oh!!! maybe he could temporarily mutate himself into a large twisted undead hulk/brute creature and just smash stuff until you are brought down or escape. Some form of undeath/blood form could be cool too!!!Anyway - I've always liked the vibe that Necro's have in general - artistically, thematically..etc. Those are just some random thoughts. cemya 871 Share Posted September 3, 2015 A Demonologist seems like another possibility. The character fights per normal, but each enemy player kill it makes builds it's 'blood rite' bar, which can activate taking the form of a demon. The demon form is on a timer (less powerful demons last longer) and once that is exhausted the player returns to his/her normal shape. My sense of Necromancers is that their main powers should be de-buffing enemies. They can be given a unique offensive capability to drain life, but it should have a fairly decent timer. My understanding is that ACE isn't going to try and balance each class for 1 v 1, but rather have some classes be most effective in groups. Ravencroft 71 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I always loved Necromancers for their aura on the battlefield. Normally quite squishy but you have to go through a legion of skeletons to hit them. Their movement; commanding yet jagged blinking in and out of view like a ghost. Weapons of choice for me have always been a Sythe for heavy slow hits with buffs to DOT's and aura's then sacrificial daggers for quick precise strikes that convert damage to health. Healing wise I have always thought of a Necromancer as a re-generator with a slow health regen normally when out of combat and then whilst in combat they steal health depending on how close they are to the enemy. The closer they are the more essence they siphon off with each attack. I see an attack with a Necromancer a constant duel between long range and close range combat. Necro starts at long with it's multitude of weak minions as a buffer. It casts DOT's or has special aura's that buff the minions. The idea is to slow down/weaken the target and then move in close to inflict the real damage. Steven Yannic, JamesGoblin and Mahon Amichai

Andius 906 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I know they plan to add more and more archetypes as time goes on. I think a race of powerful undead such as litches that play a necromancer archetype would be not only a good addition, but should be one of the first added after the ones currently announced. Infraction 403 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I guess it is just a matter of opinion because I really liked Necromancers in both Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot. I must have quit UO by the time necromancy got added in. For Camelot though the pet AI and actually playing the necro was so clunky that it wasn't fun. But yes that was completely my opinion, as even in DAOC it may have been fun to play but its only real power was in pve not in pvp. It could have been strong in pvp but they never got it working right in the 7+ years of my gameplay experience. Andius 906 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I loved Necromancers in the original Guild Wars. Minion Masters weren't very good in most forms of PvP (They rocked large group battles like faction battles where bodies were in plentiful supply.) But there were some very effective builds using blood magic. (Health steal spells.) Steven Yannic and Mahon Amichai 2 "To hell with honor. Win."
